With more almost 50 sellers, the Matthews Community Farmers' Market is the largest and most diverse growers-only farmers' market in the greater Charlotte area.
The market's tradition and tailgate areas features farmers and other vendors selling naturally grown local produce, mushrooms, meats, poultry, fish, chicken and duck eggs, plants, cut flowers, herbs, as well as local honey, baked goods, cheeses, jams, pasta, specialty prepared foods and farm crafts. All products are produced within 50 miles of Matthews, except for the fish (line caught and landed on the North Carolina coast.) Food truck fare is available in the market's tailgate section.
The market's straight-from-the-farm harvests have made it a year-round Saturday morning destination for customers who not only want the best produce, but who want to know how their food is grown and the farmers who grow it.
The market also is a favorite of the area's top chefs who regularly showcase the fabulous flavors of the local harvest on their menus.
Special events begin at 9am every Saturday morning, including cooking demonstrations by top local chefs. Relaxing live music and fun family activities round out a morning at the market.

I like it because it is always fresh, friendly and fun. It is constantly changing and the layout feels very down to earth and I just love shopping there.
While the market has grown in size and stature since its founding in 1991, it maintains its small-town atmosphere and old-fashioned charm. It has won ever-growing support from customers who see the advantages of shopping at a growers-only farmers market that supports local farmers as a vital part of the community. Customers enjoy getting to know their local farmers and like the sense of community the market brings to Matthews and the surrounding area.
