I've been a shareholder with Wholesome Harvest for over 5 years now and always look forward to this time of the year. The produce is always fresh and tasty, and I get things that I would never be able to get or think to get from the grocery store. I've learned a few things along the way - you'll find a bug here and there, you'll need to wash things, greens need to be eaten ASAP and a ice/vinegar bath will freshen them up - but a little work is worth the effort!

We've tried many CSA's in the Madison area and we prefer Wholesome Harvest by far. Portions are generous and orders offer a variety of items. Everything is great quality and the customer service is excellent.

I was a CSA member when I lived in Madison and I had a very positive experience. The produce was delicious, plentiful, and high quality. I was also impressed by the the variety of vegetables they provided. Communications were excellent, and I always enjoyed their emails and recipes that went with each CSA. Additionally, when I moved mid-summer they were able to move my pick-up location so it was still convenient for me. Highly recommend.

Chris and everyone at Wholesome Harvest have been wonderful these past 2 years. I was a CSA member this past year and again this summer and love the variety of items we receive.

We use the CSA to supplement our own gardens - no sense in growing chard when we prefer to eat it occasionally, etc - so we only have the partial share. This year's fruit options are a delicious addition, too.

Chris has been great about letting me start at one pickup location and then switching to another once school starts (I'm a professor in Madison) so we can still get our box.

Lastly, love the coffee option this year! They have teamed up with Glory Beans coffee to offer a fresh-roasted coffee share as well! My husband really appreciates that every morning.

I have no idea what was going on with the last reviewer - I've always had a great relationship with Wholesome harvest and never had an unfriendly conversation or email with anyone there. They have always been very helpful and kind to my family and we have every intention of continuing our membership every year.

I called today inquiring about purchasing a fruit share and the farmer was pretty inhospitable - I'm pretty sure he hung up on me when he thought I was calling as a representative from another CSA, and was only lukewarm when I called back to explain that I am a subscriber at another CSA. I support CSAs and awesome food, but not at the expense of customer service. It was a really negative first impression. I would recommend the farmer post an email address on his website so customers can ask questions electronically and not get the bad impression I received - regardless of the reason for his behavior, it made me not want to seek him or his farm out ever again.

I have a hard time believing that. 1 - the farmer would have never hung up on you and, 2 - they're all about customer service! I've had nothing but positive experiences with Wholesome Harvest. They go out of their way to please their customers. If he said no to the fruit share, I'm assuming it was because you weren't a member of HIS CSA. Without a doubt, I'm giving Wholesome Harvest 5 stars! Gretchen Courtier - member

Maybe he was having trouble with his cell phone. Being that I work for a CSA, I know this happens from time to time.
