Food Matters is my favorite restaurant in the Alexandria area. The food is always inventive and fresh, and the atmosphere is one that appreciates environmentalism and the process that gets the food from the ground onto the table.

There are lots of good items on the menu to choose from... currywurst, quiche, french toast... but my favorite is the Roseda Angus Beef Hamburger on a Toasted Bun with Garlic Butter and Hand-Cut Fries. The servers are friendly and spunky. On Earth Day they provided their food in completely compostable packaging and they have been collecting donations to replenish the local food bank - great commitment to social responsibility. Also, I just joined their CSA for the summer - with eggs!
