This is a small farm and its owners, Daniela, Patrick and their children, are very warm, friendly and helpful - they really make us feel completely at home; it's a pleasure to pick up milk and eggs every week plus the drive to the farm is just glorious, particularly in autumn. :)
The animals are treated with love and respect, which really shows.
The milk is delicious, very creamy and it lasts for more than a week in the fridge. The eggs have beautiful marigold yolks and the chickens are large and very, very flavorful. This week I'm picking up the pork meat. Can't wait to taste those forest-raised hogs.
MS
Hi MS, I am just learning about CSAs and found your review very helpful. Location-wise, this farm is very convenient to me; I live just four miles from them. I hope you'll get to see this comment because I've a couple of questions for you: How did you like the pork, chicken and goat meat? Are you still with this farm? Many thanks. Emma

Hi Emma, I just saw your comment (sorry for the belated response but I don't check this site often, didn't even know one could reply to reviews). -------- No, I only did one year with them (2009) mainly because it just made no sense to keep driving 13 miles each way every week exclusively to pick up milk and eggs. No supermarkets or shopping plazas near the farm so I couldn't even combine the weekly pickups with grocery shopping. -------- About their meats, well, the chickens require longer cooking at lower temperatures than organic supermarket chickens and remain quite chewy, nonetheless. They taste rather gamey, as well (some birds had a stronger gamey taste than others). Also, the birds were not vacuum packed, which is a no-no for long freezer storage. --------- The pork and goat were fine. --------- For the past two years I've been buying from larger organic farms that offer much better prices and no sca obligation. I get organic eggs from pastured chickens for $2/dozen (almost half of the csa price) from a neighboring family. ------- I hope this helps.
