There is something about the Little Italy Mercato that makes Saturdays a whole lot better. To some, itÂ?s being able to walk down the street and see the vendors and their produce. For others, itÂ?s being able to support local farmers and merchants. But for me, I like the idea of getting the freshest of the fresh- food thatÂ?s picked within days of ripeness. I would rather spend my Saturdays shopping in Little Italy and know that I have something fresh, something great. Instead of stopping at the supermarket and settling for something that is just ok.

I no longer shop for produce at the grocery store because I can just walk to the Little Italy Mercato to get all the produce that I want! It is also so delicious. It just makes sense to buy really delicious ingredients and support the local farmers who work so hard and are rarely given the credit that they deserve. Also, they have everything one would need from olive oil, eggs, cheese, meat, to of course the sun ripened fruits and vegetables.

Little Italy Mercato is a burst of sunshine, music, fresh organic food and interesting products. Neighbors and tourists mingle and make friends. It's a happy place that makes you smile and want to sing Italian songs. Well, maybe just hum them.

Wonderful assortment of vendors, great introduction to new restaurants as well as local artisians. Best of all, it's a block from our home. We shop the Little Italy Mercato every Saturday. We have friends from Carlsbad who look forward to their monthly trip to shop. We also enjoy the entertainment, it always feels like a holiday!

It is in a wonderful area of San Diego just blocks from the Bay. Not only can you shop great local produce and hormone free meats you can have lunch at one of the many Italian family owned restaurants. And of course the weather is always great in San Diego!

The fresh vegetables, fruits, and baked goods are unbeatable! I drive every Saturday morning from East County to make sure I get there at 9 a.m. and have my pick of everything the market has to offer. Fresh eggs and fresh flowers start the week off right

I am part Sicilian, I am 51 years young, and have been going to Little Italy with my parents and siblings since I was 4 years old. I recall eating at Filippi's and being so young that I had to tip toe to see over the deli counter. I love the community and love keeping the $$$ in the community. Love the smells, the ambiance, LOVE IT ALLL

Its size compared with others markets in the area. The quality of the products and their artisan vendors. The consistency of the vendors and purveyors. The location. The community and its European feel. It is not unusual to overhear conversations in several different languages. A Saturday adventure.

Little Italy Mercato has my enthusiastic support for being a unique 'getaway'... where one can enjoy foods of Italy and not even leave the states. I love watching the venders as they cradle their beautiful fruits and veggies with pride. And the dancers and the musicians!!!... just so heartwarming. What a tender graceful little town. 32 yrs of loving Little Italy.

I love being able to not leave my neighborhood for grocery shopping! The product quality and selection is much better than a grocery store, and talking with the growers and vendors is great- I want to know exactly where my food comes from! Plus the music, the view, what a great place to spend Saturday morning!

We moved downtown a few years ago after having had gardens in east county for years. We were thrilled when the Little Italy Mercato opened! The fresh, local, in-season fruits, nuts, vegetables and flowers are as wonderful as we hoped. The surprise benefits are the locally roasted fair trade coffee, the family-produced cheeses, the locally raised fresh meat, the local bakers, sausage-makers, chocolatiers, and other artisans. One can purchase avocado oils, tablecloths, clothes, specialty salts, and food-to-go -- all from the nicest people. The bunny lady, the jewelry makers, the photographic artist and the musicians -- these people all contribute to the community spirit. The Little Italy Mercato completes our neighborhood!
