In 2015, we bought a vegetable and a fruit share with Greenhorn Acres. 20+ weeks of vegetables was advertised with deliveries from mid-May through October. We got produce from the 2nd week of June through the 3rd week in October with 2 cancellations: a total of 18 deliveries.
The variety of produce was also disappointing. The bulk of the produce was greens, turnips, and radishes early, then summer squash, peppers, and corn later. Weekly E-mails listed a lot of things coming but not quite ready, yet but we saw little if any of it. Many things were only provided in small amounts; other crops we were told had been planted never materialized. On the plus side, some lean weeks included a dozen eggs to make up.
Add-on fruit share: most of the fruit was from other orchards so basically a fruit delivery service. Plus, the number of weeks when fruit was delivered was fewer than the produce. The fruit variety seemed OK, but no berries, grapes, or honey. Some softer fruit was bruised.

I did the CSA for the 2014 season and was very pleased with it. I did the 1/2 vegetable share and that was plenty for my wife and I. It was fun at pick up and I enjoyed the variety offered and the new and unfamiliar items stretched us. Marcy sent recipes out which was helpful for the occasional unfamiliar item. As the CSA states, when the weather is stellar the quality and quantity matches and so forth. Very glad to partner with a farmer and enjoy the ups and downs along with them

We bought in to the Greenhorn Acres CSA in spring 2013, excited. We were pleased to meet Marcy & Co - very nice family. We started picking up 2-3 weeks later than was planned, and quite short in volume. We kept hoping this would improve. We closely tracked incoming volume (by weight & content); 4 of the NOT QUITE 22 weeks we received the average volume of veg. and never the volume of fruit. 67% of the total veg. was various squash; VERY SMALL amount of tomatoes; huge tough okra; tiny (smaller than my thumb) beets with blackened greens, ad nauseum. When I expressed our disappointment, we were offered, rather flippantly, MAYBE some discount for 2014. Wer'e VERY disappointed with the value & quality from Greenhorn, and will not be using them in 2014.

I recently joined the Greenhorn Acres CSA with weekly delivery at Ranch Foods in Colorado Springs. I initially purchased just a half share, but I will be purchasing the other half share soon because the produce is very fresh and extremely tasty. Marcy and her four boys are very friendly. I love my CSA.
