Fred is amazing to work with - his produce, eggs and pork are DELICIOUS and the variety is fantastic. If you are considering a CSA, you CANNOT compare it to a supermarket, which ships in products from all over the world. We live in the Northeast, and part of supporting your local economy is recognizing that we have a particular growing season that supports a certain variety of products. Jus-Lin farms did an amazing job this past year with everything - all of the products listed on the website were seen at least one or two weeks in my shares, plus he included additional things not listed on the website!
Some produce was seen more often than others, but that's simply a product of our environment and growing conditions. Plus, I am never going to argue with extra corn on the cob, potatoes or cabbage! His amazing bok choy made delicious stir fries all summer long. I got rave reviews from everybody every time I would whip one up. And his beets. YUM YUM YUM. As soon as I told Fred how much I enjoyed them and how sweet and delicious they were, he would always go out of his way to tuck a few in my basket every week. And the herbs,... I could go on and on!
Jus-Lin farms produces delicious vegetables, fruits, eggs and meat. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to support our local economy and eat produce free from preservatives and antibiotics and everything else you can't get away from at the grocery stores. The farm is family owned and very genuine, and Fred will go out of his way to ensure you are happy with your product. If you are looking for a true NY CSA, you will not be disappointed in Jus-Lin farms!

While I thought Fred was great to deal with, and most of the produce was quite tasty, I thought the variety left a bit to be desired, based on the list of produce on the web site. We saw way too much of certain items, such as cabbage, and not any of other things, including carrots and peas. The fruit was also a bit on the small side, at least in my opinion. However, I think Jus-Lin Farms is still developing their CSA business, and will hopefully expand as the years go by.

Jus-Lin's produce is the tastiest I've ever had, and Fred's dedication to his farm is obvious. Affordable CSA with the option to purchase extra produce for canning, if available.
Fred's veggies are fresh, flavorful, and local. That combination was enough for me to become an instant fan, but it got even better:
Jus-Lin offered very convenient and flexible pick-up options, prompt responses by email or phone, and numerous chances to visit the farm itself to see where and how your food is grown. On our first visit out there, we got to meet Fred's dog Kipper and I think I made a friend for life.
But seriously, it was a pleasure doing business with Jus-Lin Farms this past year. Fred goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and get you interested in food... some of the best time and money I have ever spent!
PS - we got a monster cabbage too, and turned some of it into sauerkraut. Yum. And if you are a potato lover, there is nothing as delicious as a Jus-Lin spud.

Picked Jus-Lin Farms at somewhat random at the beginning of the year, and they still had shares available. The *best* random decision I have ever made! Fred impressed me from the get-go with his prompt replies via email, and his constant updates over conditions on the farm; unlike other CSAs, I never had to wonder what was going on.
Once the shares started delivery, I delighted in learning what real food looks like and tastes like. Broccoli is a flower! And in Fred's hands, that broccoli is a rich, green and purple, nutty flavour that will knock your socks off. Chemically untreated garlic,, onions that were sweet, juicy, and fresh, an amazing variety of greens, and a constantly rotating crop made Wednesdays my favourite and most anticipated date of the week.
Visiting the farm was equally fun, with the chance to tour the property, meet the animals, and see the operation from start to finish.
The obvious thought, care, and attention to detail placed into the farm and our shares shone through the entire season, and it was wonderful to be a part of. It doesn't get much more farm to table than this.

This summer we enjoyed delicious vegetables from Jus-Lin farms including tomatoes, cabbage (a 7 lbs-er), dill, potatoes, and especially the Chinese cucumbers. The pumpkins were amazing. We always end up with a bag or two full of the freshest produce to be found. On our last visit Fred gave us a tour of the gardens. Obviously they were a source of pride - well maintained and healthy. We can't wait to see Jus-Lin farms' abundant and varied offerings in 2009!

For years I've had the good fortune to have products from Jus-Lin Farms back when they were in Duanesburg. When I found out they moved to the new land, I jumped at the chance to try the fresh produce. I was not disappointed. At the farm stand this year I picked up leeks, tomatoes, squash and beets, just to name a few things. Everything I had was delicious. I even got a recipe for pumpkin curry soup the last time I was there. It is now one of my favorite soup recipes. I can't wait to see what's in the CSA share next year. I love the idea of new things to try every week. Thanks, Fred and Jus-Lin Farms for helping me eat healthy and locally.
