For such a small town market (14000) you can get just about anything that can be grown, sewn, hewn, or built. There are baked goods, home grown mushrooms, organics, coffee & doughnuts, and more coming every day. They hold special weekends: kids day with activities for kids, antiques day, and other special sales days. I have shopped there in temps from over 90F down to below 20F, Sun, rain, it even snowed! These growers/producers are a dedicated lot and deserve the $5000. Currently, only the shoppers are under the protection of the roof. Maybe they could use the money so that that roof could be enlarged. That way the sellers could be under the protection of the roof too.

I love fresh, just-picked veggies - they taste so much better than store bought, I love seeing the variety especially the pumpkins and sunflowers in the fall. I want to support my local farmers too!

Everything is so fresh and tasty. You can tell when someone takes pride in their work. The smiles on the vendor's faces really make your day.

Fresh vegetables, great flowers, good breads, homemade soaps, friendly sellers - some organic vegetables. It's a great place.

The growers are all enthusiastic people; each has taken great care with the growing and display of their wares. It is a wonderful community event where friends meet, have coffee, and enjoy the view of Lake Huron, the huge American flag at the boat harbor, and the colorful display of vegatables, fruits, and flowers. It is a happy, intimate space.

visiting our family in alpena always includes a trip to the farmers market - it's an adventure - we never know what we will bring home - on our last visit, we snagged the tiniest potatoes - smaller than a penny -thanks.

As a former resident, and having recently visited the Farmers Market, I simply love all the vegetables, fruits and of course, the "farmers." They are simply the BEST!!!

The farmers involved in this market are all knowledgeable about their produce and willing to share their expertise with customers. All produce is grown in gardens and on farms in a few surrounding counties. The market is beautifully decorated and they cover all the details from the cute produce truck logo down to the little red wagons for customers to put their produce in or for children to ride in. They also have a free antique and rummage sale day in August, and near the end of the season in September, Kids Day with live entertainment, prizes and games, hayrides, and petting zoo for children. Great Market!

I've been there many times, and the farmer's market in Alpena is very progressive, usually offering much more than just fruit and veggies. They make sure that there is always something to bring in many other visitors. And I've sold antiques there during one of their great sale days! I also participated in their yard sale day. They are an awesome bunch, and the produce is excellent!!
