My girls and I LOVE coming to this farmers market!
This farmers market has a HUGE variety of vendors with fresh and unique product. You can choose to come on either Wednesdays or Saturdays from 8am to 4pm beginning in May and running all the way to the end of October. In November and December they offer the Christmas market with specialty vendors you can shop from on selected Fridays and Saturdays.
Besides the wonderful produce, breads, baked goods, specialty goods and meats (oh yes, I can't forget the beautiful flowers that are for sale right now too!) that you would expect to find we have also found and made friends with many of the fabulous vendors. Because we have seen them week after week they remember my children now and they have begun teaching my girls about their trades. Also, in past years they have provided educational classes for children on Wednesdays at 10am and 11am by the northwest corner of the Civic Center. I can not find info as to if they are doing it again this year, but stop over to that area and check it out with your children. All classes encourage healthy eating and fun ways of exploring the farmers market. The farmers market can be a GREAT education experience for everyone. I have included a link to the official website for the Holland Farmers Market so you can check it out for yourself.

Holland Farmer's Market is a happy place. The atmosphere is fun. There are two or three musicians, singers, and/or sometimes a street performer. All ages patronize this well balanced offering of vegetables, fruits, flowers, baked goods, plants, etc. Each Saturday there is a chef of the week giving a demonstration; that is always well attended. A hot drink stand greets walk in visitors. A food court adjacent to the 'main street' caters to the shoppers. The city has built a two block long structure fronting the 'mall' type walk way. It's located close to the Civic Center so the large parking area doubles for the market goers convenience.
We love it.

1) The food is awesome, the farmers are great, and they're very helpful, they'll even carry stuff to the car to help customers.
2) There is a Saturday chef series that hosts local chefs who demonstrate how to prepare the fresh foods at the market. Farmers say that it helps boost their sales because when the demonstration is about kale, customers buy kale. On Wednesdays, there are cooking demonstrations across the street in the Holistic Nutrition Center using Farmer's Market produce. That is technically not part of the market, but it might just as well be considered part, because it's one of those things you don't want to miss when you shop Wednesdays.
3) There are local musicians who play in center court while we shop. Some of them are really good!
4) There are scheduled events for children during the Saturday market.
5) The atmosphere is awesome, it's a great place to meet friends as well as to just find friends you haven't seen in a while.
