This is my second CSA and Farmer Mike by far has better variety of vegetables, which makes it so much fun to cook during the spring, summer and fall! The pick up is close to my home and the vegetables are washed at least once over making cooking easy when you get home.

This is my 3rd year with One Acre Farm. I believe as long as Farmer Mike continues growing plants in Germantown, I will be one of his loyal members for many years coming. Every year is wonderful, now my whole family eats various fresh greens and roots, thanks to Mike.
Wish the green house project will become successful in next year, then I can continue enjoying fresh produces in harsh winter.

I thought I hated vegetables until we joined One Acre Farm CSA. A neighbor told us about Farmer Mike and we gave it a try. All I can say is AWESOME! I didn't realize what vegetables are supposed to taste (and look) like. While I may not "appreciate" all the flavors, I do appreciate how I feel since eating more vegetables and that my kids are seeing how vegetables get from farm to table. Certainly the farm tours are a great experience and so is the end of year PARTY! Keep it up Farmer Mike and thanks!

Farmer Mike has to be the most caring farmer out there. Besides going to great lengths to provide us with a wonderful variety of basic and exotic vegetables each week at a very reasonable price, Farmer Mike is always trying new and innovative approaches to sustainable farming. Going on the farm tour truly highlighted how dedicated Mike is to trying the greenest of the green approaches! Farmer Mike creates community for all, donating shares from his land to families in need, to delivering food from all farmers after Hurricane Sandy to hosting a weekly Capitol Hill pick up and super fun seasonal member gatherings. We love One Acre Farm, they are great stewards of the land and we love having their food on our table for as long as we can each year!

We moved to DC from California, and it was a shock to our system to leave high-quality vegetables. Last spring we joined One Acre Farm's CSA, and are extremely pleased with the produce we received. It is evident that the food is grown with care and we greatly enjoy getting to go to a pick-up location and select the vegetables. The variety and quality of produce makes these transplanted Californians happy. We had a small share for two people and it more than met our needs with the amount of produce we received. We enjoyed getting to go out to the farm as well on a farm visit day. This is a great CSA to join and we will be back for as many seasons as possible!

This is our first year joining a CSA, and our family got to taste Vegetables and Greens picked freshly ie from farm to table. Got introduced to a variety of greens and vegetables and some that we did not get in local supermarkets. We could taste the freshness of the produce. Will join again and would highly recommend.

wonderful CSA! I had never joined a CSA before and thought I would give it a try with One Acre Farm. I am very glad that I did. Great Produce! Packaged well for pick up. You can even get recipes for the produce dropped off from their Pintrest page.
The amount is just right and very flavorful!
Great CSA!

The quality and variety of produce is fantastic. Each week during the season we received beautiful produce from One Acre Farm. Farmer Mike offers helpful updates, instructions for cooking with uncommon produce, and offers fun and informative farm tours. The pick-up location and time on Capitol Hill is very convenient.
I very highly endorse One Acre Farm. The produce is among some of the best I've ever had.

There's nothing better than farm fresh vegetables to the table! I thought I was a veggie lover, but since joining One Acre Farm I have been delighted with the varieties of vegetables that are not usually available at super markets or farmer markets. I especially loved the different varieties of broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, potatoes, and peppers. Who knew all those varieties existed...thank you, Farmer Mike for sharing them with us. I also enjoy the farm tours and all the little extras that One Acre Farm provides to the community. As a member for over 4 years, I can't wait to eat what the 2015 season brings!

I have been a member of the One Acre Farms CSA for five years now, and it keeps getting better and better. Michael's a great guy and is constantly trying to improve the experience for us members. There are also lots of options for people who want to try out a CSA for a month before you sign up for the whole year.

When my husband and I tried a CSA through LivingSocial/Groupon before, we were disappointed with the produce, but we were still interested in being a part of a locally-sourced CSA. We found exactly what we were looking for in One Acre Farm. Mike Protas's passion for his work is so evident in everything he does. He makes pick-up as easy as possible, his correspondence is frequent (but not too frequent), and the product he delivers is terrific. I love the variety, the amount, and the quality of the produce each week. Sometimes I feel like we should be paying much more for what we're getting, and I'm so happy to support a local farm. One Acre truly has that community/neighborly feel. I can't say enough good things.

I agonized about joining a CSA for years before I discovered Farmer Mike. Now I wish I had joined when I moved to Germantown. I picked up my share at the farm and Mike was always patient with all of my questions. Sometimes he would even pull a book out of his truck to show me pictures and look up extra information. I enjoyed picking up at the farm and meeting some of the other members. I learned just as much about cooking new-to-me vegetables from them as from Mike. I was able to take a half hour break from work to drive to the farm and pick up the veggies. Even on bad weather days I always found it a treat to visit his farm. I found the produce to be high quality week after week. Mike's experience and care definitely shows in the final product. I feel that I got much more than my money's worth out of the food and the experience. My favorite single item has to be the sungold tomatoes. Amazing! I will be signing up again next year.

I've belonged to several different CSA's over the past few years and this is, by far, the best one. The produce was fresh and delicious. And Farmer Mike consistently delivers variety and quantity on a weekly basis. I will not only be back next year, but have convinced several others at my Company to switch from other CSA's to this one. I am looking forward to next year!!

We joined Once Acre Farm's CSA a little late in the season, and Farmer Mike was more than accommodating to us as latecomers. Throughout the fall, we were astounded by the diversity of offerings, as well as the sheer bounty of the produce each week. Everything was completely fresh, and the CSA offers a range of choices so you can customize your order. We loved the "freebies" each week, which ranged from tomatoes to garlic to sweet potatoes. Mike is very communicative as well, offering heads-up by email about upcoming crops, cooking and storage tips, and general farm news. Some especially thoughtful touches were the pre-washed greens, free produce bags, and free cookbook that came with our membership. We're already missing the CSA and can't wait to renew our membership (on time!) next year!

We just finished our first year with OAF, and it was great -- we'll definitely sign up again next year. Variety is good each week, especially as the season progresses, and the produce was all in excellent shape. We ordered a full share, and it is just my wife and I (well, and a small baby, but he doesn't each much yet). The weekly share was a lot for the two of us, but with some planning, we ended up wasting very little of it, and we enjoyed it all. I don't think we've ever eaten so healthy in our lives.

Summer tomatoes, watermelon were so juicy and sweet better than those I got from organic stores.

This is our third year with One Acre Farm (OAF) and Michael is amazing as what he does. The vegetables we receieve weekly are the best we've ever had. So much so that my husband has a difficult time eating tomatoes that aren't from OAF, they simply aren't the same! I have loved experimenting with so many different vegetables that I would never have purchased on my own in the past. Receiving fresh new vegetables each week motivates me to cook delicous new recipes every night! Michael does an excellent job of communicating with his members and responding to feedback and concerns. All of the members get invited out to the farm several times a year for a very informational tour where we all get a better idea of what goes into growing our delicous vegetables.
Thank you Farmer Mike for 3 great seasons!

My boyfriend and I joined One Acre Farm on a bit of a whim, but we're already looking forward to next year's harvest! The shares are extremely generous, diverse, and delicious - everything from salad greens and turnips (surprisingly yummy!) in the spring to tomatillos, sweet cherry tomatoes, and a bounty of other summer fruits and vegetables. We have every expectation that the fall's veggies will be as tasty as those from the spring and summer, and we enthusiastically recommend One Acre Farm, especially to people living in Capitol Hill. The pick-up is convenient and efficient - we even got a bag to tote our vegetables around in at the beginning of the season.

The food is great, all the veggies have been amazing. I have been able to use every item. CSA includes a helpful manual (cookbook), that gives useful information on prep, storage, and recipes. The farmer (Michael) is a great guy, and always very helpful giving information and suggestions with some varieties of vegetables that were new to me. One of my best decisions this year has been to get weekly veggies from the local, organic one acre farm.

I've only been participating in One Acre Farm's CSA since the 2012 season, but I've really enjoyed the experience. Mike is fantastic and very friendly, and the pick up process on someone's front porch fun - as others have noted, you select your vegetables yourself, with no pre boxing involved. And the vegetables themselves have been incredible - they look beautiful (probably because Mike pre-washes them), are incredibly tasty, and each week's share has brought a good variety of things to cook with. The little touches are what really clinch the experience - things like a bag for pickup, a CSA focused and produced cookbook (which I've found quite useful), and even little touches like sending out a list of what businesses CSA members run in a non-obtrusive way. I've really enjoyed my experience and would highly recommend.

This is a wonderful small personal CSA where you get to know the farmer, his family and all the other members.
We've known Michael Protas for a number of years and when he approached us about his newly formed CSA we were very excited to join and have never looked back. In fact we have had him use our porch in Capitol Hill for the drop off since the beginning.
Michael does everything he can to make this a positive experience for his members and is very open to feedback and new ideas always striving to make things better.
We highly recommend this CSA!

My husband and I have been members of One Acre Farm since 2010 and have loved every minute! Farmer Mike's passion for farming is contagious, and we look forward to walking over to the pickup spot every Thursday. I've heard that other CSAs box up the produce for their members -- not so with One Acre Farm. Members walk up to the pickup, enjoy conversation with other members who are picking up, and weigh and select all of their own produce based on the guidelines each week. Spot a particularly lovely looking eggplant? It's yours! Know that you won't be able to use all of the potatoes you're allowed that week? Take only what you need!
We've loved the variety of veggies, especially learning more about leafy greens. And Farmer Mike knows his stuff -- it's fun to visit the actual farm and hear him talk about the machinery and how he cycles the crops through the fields. Finally, any extra produce each week is donated to a food bank in town.
It's a win-win-win-win for everyone involved -- we can't wait for the 2012 season to start!

I have been a member of Michael's CSA farm-share for two years now and it has been fantastic both years. The CSA runs from the beginning of June or so to Thanksgiving. Each week we get a wide variety of veggies from the standards (potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash) and usually variety of either exoctic veggie or green (tomatillos, different lettuce greens, garlic rape etc). The amounts are significantly more than every other CSA I have heard about in the greater DC area. All of his food is organic and I have had to take up drying and freezing the produce because my wife and I can't eat all of the stuff we get. That being said multiple people in our group have families with kids and they seem to eat everything up nicely.
Michael is a great guy and is happy to answer any question you may have about the farm and encourages people to come out and see the farm (and get your hands dirty if you want to). The pick up is at a house in Captiol hill but I know he also does some drop offs in Potomac if you live out in Montgomery county.
