I purchased the freshest ground beef I've ever had anywhere from Mr. Butcher at the Kensington Farmers Market. Forget the organic beef from Trader Joe's (or MOMs even), this beef has an incredible taste to it that is very noticeable and very delicious.
I talked to Mr. Butcher about his farm practices and his products may not be certified organic as he supplements the natural pasturing with uncertified feed, but his animals are obviously well-cared and mostly naturally fed.
Love the beef and looking forward to trying the eggs! Just wish the KFM ran later than noon so I could go more often.

We met Mr. Butcher and his wife this summer at the newly opened Poolesville, MD Farmers' Market. Though we hadn't yet tasted the various cuts of beef we chose, we knew that we were in for a treat. There was a sense in pride and responsibility that came across in the conversation about the land, the animals and, finally, with a warm handshake and promise: If you don't like your purchase, come and let me know.
Like it? We loved it. We are not heavy beef eaters and so when we do make a stew, roast, or ground beef dish - we really want it to be savory. Mr. Butcher was back several weeks later on market day. He remembered us and asked how the meat was.
Our answer was to stock up on more for the freezer and to thank him for his craft and dedication to growing food that we want to eat!
