We all know how the holidays are, hustle, bustle, shopping, going from one house to another. Mothers Day, trying to actually go out to eat is more trouble than it's worth.....but one thing they all have in common, is the family all gets together....family is so important and getting them all in one place at one time is hard to do.
Well.......like I said, it's just a Wednesday in May. Middle of the week, no holiday.......but everyone, including the grandkids are coming over for what is now called in our house.......Jamie's turkey. Not a store bought turkey.....Jamie's turkey.
All of you know how it feels to cook a great dinner and have the entire family here to enjoy it.....so when ordering your Thanksgiving turkey from Jamie, ask her to freeze one for you and make an ordinary just another Wednesday, into a relaxing, good food, good conversation......and best of all, the whole family in one place, enjoying a Jamie Turkey......what could be better than that?
Not only was the experience easy and cost effective, the turkey was Excellent! Upon my arrival, I was pleased to find the facility clean, well organized, and well maintained. The turkey itself was presented well and came with cooking instructions. We found it to be one of the most moist turkeys we ever had. We will definitely be purchasing our future turkeys from this farm. My only regret is that I didn't think to order another one to freeze for Christmas!
We look forward to visiting LadyBird Farm again soon, and are excited to see what they will have for us in 2010. Turkeys, chickens, game hens, and eggs would be wonderful! Thank you for the warm welcome to Bay City.
The turkey turned out perfectly and everyone kept saying how it was the best turkey they'd ever had! I rubbed butter and rosemary under the skin which gave it a very nice flavor. It was moist and tender. Even my husband, who insisted that he didn't like turkey because it's always dry, was picking the final bits of meat off the bone!
And it's so nice to know that we still have the opportunity to eat food as it was meant to be...natural, unmedicated, and absolutely delicious :) And people like Jamie are the ones who keep the "eat local" effort alive by being inspired to raise happy, healthy turkeys.
So...thanks Jamie!
Well, we had another one of Jamie's fabulous turkeys yesterday.....only problem was, it caused an argument between my husband and I.......we couldn't agree which was the best turkey, this or the last one! We decided we needed another one to make up our minds......so you can imagine his surprise when I told him Jamie was going to freeze me one at the end of the year.......and she didn't want a deposit or anything. That is unheard of down here in Detroit! I just hope I get up to Bay City before that, because I can't wait that long. A 15 pound turkey not only fed my husband and I....but my grandson told his cousins gramma was bringing home a fresh turkey, so I had 3 teenage boys......and we know how they eat....also my grand daughter my daughter, and of course me. I was getting scared, as I saw them filling their plates and coming back for seconds......there goes my turkey croquettes, turkey soup, hot turkey sandwiches, turkey pot pie, munchie turkey, and all the other good things to make with left overs.......but as usual, there is more meat on Jamie's turkeys than the injected "for flavor" turkeys they sell in the store. So I had turkey for lunch, and hot turkey sandwiches for dinner. Thank you Jamie for another wonderful meal.......and I hope to see you soon.
Well, drove up from Detroit, my sister took down Jamie's phone number. I picked up my turkey on Tuesday and we just got done eating it today. The farm was a pleasure, seeing the turkeys walking around, some even got loose. Jamie was very pleasant and had my turkey ready and waiting.......but enough about my adventure. In these hard times, I have to admit....I thought hard about spending the money.....but let me tell you, it was the best money I ever spent! It's like going from hamburger to filet mignon. I haven't had a fresh turkey since I was little and my uncles still had farms. The memories it brought back. Some may not be as lucky as I was, never experienced a fresh turkey, no injection of "flavor", no bred for white meat, no fake taste. If you've never had that experience in your life.......you have to at least once. You'll never be able to eat a processed, caged, injected, antibiotic fed turkey again. Jamie has a customer for life!
