There are a lot of great markets in Chicago, but this one has a great variety and also a wonderful community feel about it. Each market is an event.

I love buying local, love the farmers we meet and the fruits and veggies they offer. We are all for supporting our local farmers!

The Green City Market leds the pack in bringing together local farmers to an urban community. Without the GCM in Chicago, we are left with minimal opportunities to eat locally. The range and diversity of produce, meat and dairy is wide and the farmers pay special attention to storytelling which leads to a greater connection to our land.

Provides very important distribution for organic farmers in the region while enabling my family to eat fresher, healthier food. Better for the planet all around.

Green City Market always has the freshest and best tasting fruits and vegetables, not to mention the sweetest farmers!!

Great staff, plus the farmers are always there to chat, answer questions and generally be friendly and help you make good organic decisions. Plus, the breakfast choices are awesome. For my wife and I it's almost like going on a date.

I've lived in Houston Texas and multiple places in California and Green City Market is definately one of the best farmers markets I've been to.

It has the best selection of local produce in the Chicago area, and the people are super friendly. It's an all-around awesome market!

The Saturday market is something I look forward to every week. With the large number of vendors, weekly chef demonstrations, and live music, this has become one of my favorite events in Chicago!

The freshness, straight from their soil to our table. We shop there every Wednesday morning, we love to cook, so we love the offerings available from produce to bakery to flowers. It just feels right, feels healthy, feels good.

The first outdoor market of the year, though scarce, is my favorite moment of the Chicago year. It signals everything I love about summer, and as I become more aware of my food and where it comes from, I have found the Green City market expanding with my needs. The more I buy there, the more they seem to provide, from homemade pasta to milk and dairy products to fresh tofu. I know they are selective about their farms and products, and the farmers have taught me countless things, like how to make applesauce, how to cook fresh black beans, and how to make jam. I love the Green City Market!

Living in a huge urban jungle in the bread basket, locally grown food is becoming more and more difficult to come by given ubran sprawl and the plight of the small farmer.

Green City Market has an extensive variety of farmers and vendors that opens people up to trying new foods. They also have chef demonstrations that expose people to new restaurants and new ways to cook fresh seasonal foods.

Green City Market ROCKS! Its the best part of summertime in Chicago, and its puts the spotlight on some incredible farmers/vendors.

I love meeting the people who grow and raise our food. It reminds me of the small town where I grew up, and my mom's garden.

The atmosphere and farmers - first and foremost. Everyone is happy and not pushy (sellers and buyers). Asking questions and hearing their stories about their raised elks, the lettuce season, their farm - just makes the food that much tastier. We make sure to buy from multiple booths. My favorite is after we load up two gigantic canvas bags we stick around for lunch which is some of the best in Chicago. Strawberry and Mint smoothies, the famous crepes, burgers (raised humanely) grilled and served with raw Cheddar cheese spread - all food is from the farmers at the market and very yummy. You eat and relax in the main area with the great live band. The location is perfect and best of all they are open pretty much all year. Finish off the visit with the fresh flower booths to take home. When they start wilting you actually get excited because you know it is almost time for the market again.

I love that I can get fresh dairy, eggs, baked goods and meat as well as produce and flowers.

I support the small farmer. I believe in sustainable living with organic foods. The food at the Green City Market is healthier and makes me feel better when I buy there - like I'm contributing to society.

Green City Market is one of the best things about Chicago--great local products sustainably grown, a warm community, great chef demos from the best restaurants, delicious prepared foods, music--all in a lovely shaded park. Going to the market first thing in the morning is an uplifting way to start one's day and is something my husband and I always look forward to.

It is a wonderful, year-round market with vendors from all over the midwest, amazing chef demos from some of the top restaurants in the country and lots of variety!

They have wonderful farmers who bring the best produce twice a week in the summer. They are always ready to help with information about their products or just to talk.

I have two children under two and one of the most important things I would like to teach them is healthy eating habits. With Green City Market, it makes my job that much easier. Personally, its the only market worth going to. Many many many choices from meats down to maple syrup. Its twice a week so you can ALWAYS have something fresh and local to eat!

I love the open friendly atmosphere, the variety of selections, and the fact that it's open year round.

I think the Green City market is the best market in the city. There is nothing more fun than going down to the Zoo/Lincoln Park on a Saturday morning for fresh produce that was picked the day before for us City folk. I really love the fact that the grower is there discussing great way's to cook their produce. It truely is one of the great treats of l;iving in Chicago!

I love visiting the farmers at the Green City Market every week! It makes me giddy seeing all of the fresh produce, harvested just the day before. The farmers have introduced me to new types of produce and share their favorite recipes. There is such a variety of farms, making it easy to prepare an entire meal full of fresh local ingredients from the market. Cooking and eating has never been so much fun.

The Green City Market is wonderful for so many obvious and not so obvious reasons. There is clearly a high level of care and pride that goes into each product and an added dedication of the growers to sustainable farming methods. Working with the land is challenging in the best of circumstances, and Green City Market vendors commit to grow responsibly and sustainably even when it's not the easiest path to follow. Plus, they're knowledgeable, fun and quirky! The other thing I love about Green City Market is that the organizers work tirelessly to grow the market itself - top chef demos, author appearances, events and now a year round market! We are so lucky to have such a resource.

I go on Saturday mornings and it starts my weekend right. I love buying fresh, tasty, seasonal food. I always try to buy something I have never tried before. It's great to see families with children, dogs... mingling so nicely. The energy is amazing.

It's important to support organizations that are encouraging and, in this case, pioneering socially and environmentally responsible food. Green City is an asset to the community not only by supplying locally grown/produced foodstuffs, but also for their education programs, kid-friendly learning activities and more. For many years it has been a leader in bringing the best produce, the best variety of produce, and the most organic & sustainably raised produce to Chicago. While I like the other area farmers markets, Green City is the only one that ranks with nationally known markets such as Ferry Plaza in San Francisco, CA and Dane County in Madison, WI. Also, vendors are helpful and knowledgeable when discussing how to prepare foods made with their products. The entire market has a great community feeling and the fact that it's actually IN Lincoln PARK, makes it a delightful place to visit.

The farmers are great, food is fresh and clean and abundant. It feels like a real community and like a festival, too, what with music, food cooking, kids, dogs, people of all ages.

The produce is fresh, the vendors know a lot about their product, and the friendliness of the people at the market. Also they have a large variety of items. they have flowers , meat, fruit, herbs, music, demos, and good food to eat.

The fantastic Chicago restaurants couldn't thrive like they do without the intense collaboration that Green City Market brings between local growers, chefs, and the common dinner attendee or aspiring chef. Green City is the place that enables people to learn and grow, literally.

There are so many options for fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, and flowers. All of the stands have pictures of their farms and can tell you exactly when the food was picked. Everyone is extremely friendly and gives samples!

The market has nice vendors, cooking demos, continues even during the colder months and is local to boot!

It has the best selection of any farmer's market in Chicago, incredible educational program (lots of chef demos, children's programs), farmers have to be present selling their produce, even baked goods have to be seasonal.

Because the Green Market ingrediants are so tasty naturally, I feel like a chef as I prepare enjoyable meals for all.

Buying local means I get to support local farmers, reduce my carbon footprint and get the freshest, yummiest produce. It is a win win! I've lived in many different places and been to all the local farmer's markets. Green City is by far the biggest, friendliest and best!

It's a matter of faith for me to support small farmers and eat locally grown food. My husband and I visit every Wednesday and Saturday during the summer. We love to get a crepe and a cup of coffee and just watch people.

I love Green City Market!! I am interested in eating organic and local and there is no better place to find the best of both of those! I walk into the market and smile, and I walk out smiling. I visited Green City Market from out of town. I was very impressed with the variety of products, demonstrations, and great samples to try. It was very well organized and the staff was helpful and friendly.

Where to I begin? Green City is a year round market that provides the city with local sustainable products including: milk, cheese, meat, produce, and flowers. They provide demos, a chance to know your farmer, & a place for both pros and novices to buy direct.

Chef demos, yummy food to try made with the best ingredients, vendors who care about their products and their customers who visit the market and popularity to draw some of the best Chefs/local restaurants that use their vendors and talk about it!

The local farmers are great, always helpful, and their produce are fantastic. The dedication to providing the best products the produced in the midwest to Chicago is unparalleled.

There is the best selection of organic local produce at a farmers market. They also have organic snacks, baked goods, live music, and just an all over good energy!

Fantastic community and culture surrounding it and great produce and product from the cheese that can be grilled to the steaks and the produce from Growing Power, grown right in the city. I also love biking to it. A great experience.

The people are wonderful and the produce rocks! I love knowing there is a place I can go where all the food is organic!
