This was this first time our family participated in a CSA. I have to admit, we weren't familiar with the concept but we were willing to give it a try and we're so happy we did. Every week our box was overflowing with fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs. I absolutey loved the variety as it encouraged us to try new things that we mostly likely wouldn't have tried if I was just picking up produce at the grocery store.
Every week my two girls couldn't wait to see what we got in the box from "the farm." In fact, they got so used to the lettuce from Zepp's that when the season was over and I had to buy lettuce from the grocery store, my youngest said to me, "This doesn't taste like farm lettuce, mom." We also signed up for the fresh egg delivery and enjoyed that immensely. Nothing beats fresh eggs!!
Oh, and you can't beat the home delivery. Being a working mom, I absolutely loved the convenience.
We'll definitely be signing up for next year. Keep up the good work, Jane!

This is the 3rd CSA I have been part of and by far the best one!
The wide variety and high quality was consistent and a great deal. Buying the same amount of quality organic local produce would have cost an arm and a leg at any of our local markets. I appreciate that the Zepps used organic methods and did not spend the money to become "certified organic" as this would make the price go up and add nothing to the quality.
Our weekly baskets were consistently overflowing with produce and usually included extras that other CSAs typically don't offer like fresh flowers, herbs, and eggs. Not to mention that I have never had a CSA make weekly deliveries directly to my house before!
The taste of their vegetables was unsurpassed. I'm not sure exactly how they do it, but I suspect it has something to do with how freshly harvested the vegetables would come to our house. The Zepps typically harvested the food only one day before bringing them directly to my house, unlike the supermarket where all of the veggies are at least a week or two old.
I will certainly be signing up for a full box again next year as the quality, value, and convenience is unsurpassed!

My husband and I were CSA members the whole 2009 season and enjoyed every box off beautiful produce. Jane and Mel Zepp are awesome. We enjoyed visiting and touring the farm throughout the year. It felt really cool to know the people who were producing our food. We found the quality of these pesticide free vegetables to be excellent. The great variety of produce caused us to try many new things. I am now a huge fan of dill and fennel, two items I had never tried before this year. Even though the season ended a month ago, we are still enjoying potatoes, squash, beets and carrots from the fall boxes. I especially appreciated all the fresh herbs, the occasional flowers, and the recipes Zepp farm included in the newsletter. We also signed up for the optional egg deliveries and enjoyed them too.
We cannot wait for the 2010 season. We are defiantly signing up again.

We enjoyed our first summer with Zepp farm. It was a great experience for us, and getting a different variety of things was really neat. We loved the news letter with the different receipes and things to try. Thank you Zepp farm for the great work you did in your first year, you were awesome. We learned how to can this summer and getting a box every thursday was exciting. We now have green beans, carrots, pears, peaches, squash and corn all stored up for the winter. Thanks again for your hardwork!

This was our first year participating in the farm program, but are already looking forward to 2010 season. The variety was good and allowed us to try somethings were would not normally have tried, but liked. We got what was suppose to be delivered sometimes in the morning or in the afternoon depending on delivery schedule. We didn't have any spoilage because of sitting out before I got home. But we refrigerated those things that needed refrigeration immediately when arriving home. keep up the good work Zepps!

What could be more wonderful than having fresh produce delivered to our door all summer long! We had such a wide variety of vegetables delivered each week. My kids would try anything that Jane put in the box! Our box was overflowing each week. I was very happy with everything we recieved and we will definately be doing this again. My experience was nothing like the other review. I was extremely happy and highly recommend Zepp Farm to anyone.

Our entire experience with Zepp Farm was unpleasant from start to finish. They'd send tantalizing newsletters about what we were going to get, but then not deliver it, including flowers twice. Who can eat flowers? We got a lot of things we either didn't need or didn't like, including baby arguella with leaves that were weren't even 1/2" long, dandelion greens which are very bitter, fruit only twice in 6 weeks and not much of it either. Deliveries were made at the hottest time of the afternoon to sweat in the sweltering heat we've had this summer. So we finally cancelled. After that it took nearly a month of haggling with them to finally get them to honor their contract and give us a refund. It was $40 less than it should have been. Our advice: steer clear. There are plenty of better options around, including CSAs and farmer's markets.

After reading this post, I had to wonder if this was written by one of the Zepp's competitors? Their experience sounds hard to believe. I have to question the motivation of this post as my experience was so radically different. The veggies were consistent, plentiful, and of very high quality. I have and continue to recommend their produce as I have not found anything that compares in terms of price, quality, or convenience. The fact that they delivered to my house was a good thing. It certainly was not their fault that it was a hot summer and I was impressed with how good the produce always looked despite my thermometer saying it was over 90 degrees out. The fact that they would deliver despite that unbearable heat is reason to give kudos, not criticism. I sure didn't want to go out in the heat to the supermarket, and because I was in their CSA, i didn't have to. I am definitely signing up again next season!
