The best I have seen anywhere. Wonderful atmosphere with everything one could want available. Farmers are very accommodating:when I requested a rooster to make an authentic Coq au Vin, the farmer said "Come back a week from today and I'll bring one for you. Where else would one get such service?

I Love My farmer's market! All the food is fresh, the people are nice and outgoing, When I think farmer's market, I think 14th street Union Square! It's a perfect location because it is a complex where the road is closed off. Even when I don't have any money, I go to the farmer's market just for fun.

Farmers at the Union Square Greenmarket are open to sharing their recipes, smiling and always willing to give a sample of their food. They also remember customers and go the extra step to meet their demands -such as reserving a rare cheese for a customer who can't make it for 8am when the market opens or holding a basket of wild raspberries, when they could just easily sell them at the highest bid1-. Artists also greatly complement the atmosphere by displaying pictures of New York city taken in markets and around Greenwich Village, thus spicing up the local pride!

The people are the salt of the earth. They sell beautiful, local, organic, delicious products from small farms. The whole market is wonderful to walk through. you have people like me looking for local, organic vegan produce to chefs from local restaurants shopping. They have a composting stand to flowers. I love supporting the local farmers and while it is green friendly as well. It is a great experience.

i love to go to the market weekly, but it is so crowded. i believe all the construction is complete, yet it is still hard to navigate because of the foot traffic. i guess the best bet is not to go at lunch or after work.

Union Square Greenmarket is a most wonderful addition to downtown Manhattan, a market that is easy for almost anyone in the 5 boroughs of the big apple to visit that offers just about anything and everything you could want from a market, and all in a few city blocks. Visiting this treasure trove is a pleasure -- something New YOrkers can count on in the midst of the grey urban landscape!

always the best, the freshest, sellers MUST grow, raise, produce the product they are selling. Year around market, it's the only place I purchase meat. Friends chide me because some things cost more than the supermarket, but I contend I would rather spend my money on quality food than on the doctor.

This market needs no introduction. As the most frequent and prolific farmer's market in NYC, not only does the Union Square Greenmarket operate year-round and represent farmers from all over the surrounding area, spanning multiple states, but they have great programs like food scrap-drop off for composting, textile recycling, and cooking demonstrations. Amid one of the most popular bustling hubs of commerce, demonstration and camaraderie in Manhattan, this market holds its own--definitely a main attraction.

Union Square Greenmarket brings wholesome, fresh goodness (and organics and flavor and seasonal variety!) into an already thriving community and marketplace. It's just one more reason why our Union Square neighborhood is such a desirable place to live, shop, cook and eat. Even if you don't cook, take a cue from the neighborhood's best restaurants, whose chefs pride themselves on developing their weekly menus from what they find at the Union Square Market.

Actually, I live in Brooklyn NY...and don't shop the market in Manhattan. I would love to have a wonderful farmer's market in Brooklyn...and want to support fresh, non-genetically modified, properly raised fruits and vegetables. Most produce, fruits especially here...are huge, look beautiful...and taste like a mouthful of cotton, no sweetness, no flavor...unbearable...especially for summer fruit. Why do we want giant oranges, apples and pears. Peaches and nectarines are pulpy and have no taste. Bananas bought green or hard to the touch so they don't over ripe...are already bruised inside and hardly a part can be eaten. This has been going on for years...I don't know why the public puts up with it.
