It has the best selection of produce and products from area farmers than any other competing market in the area.

Good food is a given at Farmers' Markets. This one is relaxed - good for visiting, is truly local and yes, the weather is always good! Looking forward to hearing gentle morning music there! an always-interesting set of the most interesting people, community-concerned vendors and customers, and a great

Its small, very personal, clean, neighborly, fresh, opens early at 7am, its mostly all farmers, vs restaurants with cooked foods or vendors with clothing or non-food merchandise, like some other carnival/festival style farmers markets (though those are good too, for attracting large crowds who wouldn't ordinarily buy from a farmers market without the cooked foods or non-food merchandise). I just love the Venice Farmers Market!!

It is great representation of what farmers markets are all about-- neighbors seeing each other and those who have some role in producing their sustenance in a friendly, educational and cooperative setting. There are not too many retailers undercutting each-other yet the costs are usually less than the local national chain store's produce department. Not to mention the fact that this food didn't have transport costs ($ & carbon) and the money stays here as well.

If Venice Farmers Market Manager Jim Murez ever tries hitting my 14 year old son again because he is photographing a public scene on a public street, he is going to be in for a world of trouble, a grown man striking a child is inexcusable.

Baby arugula....sunflower , mungbean, lental sprouts...all the beautiful fruits.... in the right season...smiling faces... all of it! All pretty locally grown by small, sometimes 'organic' farmers! All good!

Just back from college and living at home while working in Venice, I needed to find a new farmer's market to replace the one I used to frequent regularly in my college town. Well, the Venice Farmer's Market is tiny in comparison to any other farmer's markets I've been to before, but it packs a punch. Just last week, I got up early before work and came home with a treasure trove of goods. I not only picked up perfect ready-to-eat white peaches and fresh strawberries ($7 for 3 baskets! quite good by LA standards) I also met a couple of guys whose wares stood out in particular. One is Dave and his Korean food stand. He prepares incredible vegetarian options like spicy tempah with jalapenos and barbecued tofu, both of which are great in salads or on their own. Dave introduced me to lotus root a couple of weeks ago, and his spicy vegetable mix last week. Eaten on their own, or in soups or salads, is a delicious and refreshing departure from my normal vegetarian fare. Also there's a fellow who sells dried fruit and nuts. After trying some tamarind fruit, I asked him where I could get tamarind juice in LA, a highlight of my recent trip to Guatemala. Well, it turns out that this fine gentleman had been making it himself at home. Now I'm going back this Friday to pick up my own special batch that he offered to bring just for me! What a wonderful eclectic mix of foods, produce, pastries, and flowers too, in a tiny lot with a lot of soul.
