I am so pleased with Wilson Family Farms! The produce is plentiful and appealing and tastes terrific! Joanne does a great job keeping up with all of us and keeping us informed. I love getting fresh produce every single week!

This was the first year of doing a CSA, and I will be doing it again, with The Wilson Family Farm. The amount of vegies we got this year were outstanding, sometimes an over abundance! The freshness couldn't be any better. The family working the farm couldn't have been nicer. Every week when I went to pick out the share, I was always asked, "How's it working for you, anything we can improve on?" They really care about the people they are involved with. They are very nice people.
I can't wait until next season! (Though next year, I will be canning some of those green beans)! Thank you for all your hard work!

This will be our 4th year with the Wilson Family Farm CSA and overall we are pleased. Although I normally am very value-conscious, I can overlook feeling as though I didn't quite get my $$ worth during a bad season or week, if it means helping an organic farm stay afloat. Also, I've tried different vegetables than I would have ordinarily and that's a good thing. We usually feel as though what we've paid for our subscription is well worth what we get in return. Having said that, I do agree with a different reviewer re: the amount of produce given versus selling at a farmer's market. Subscribers should be given up to the value of their CSA in produce (even if it's a lot of a few things) before produce is held back for sale at the farmer's market later in the week. I'm renewing my subscription for the spring/summer season today!

We've been members of Wilson Family Farm's CSA for five years now, and have always been very happy with the level of quality and service. My 7-year-old eats most of the tomatoes and red peppers before they even get to the fridge! Like other CSAs, they sometimes make substitutions based on what's available, but it's always of equal value. The negative poster below mentioned being given "condiments", which must be the apple butter, squash relish, and jam we got last year in addition to the vegetables. I know everyone's taste is different, but my family loved them! I guess I'm just very surprised that someone would leave a negative post...the Wilsons plant a huge variety of produce throughout the season so that everyone will receive full value, no matter what. On top of that, they offer eggs, wildflowers, and gorgeous handmade wreaths at Christmas, and have an annual Open House with a tour of the farm (and an amazing potluck meal). We're definitely huge fans of this CSA.

The people at Wilson's farm are nice and it can be kind of fun and nice to pick up a box each week, but the season was not good and I've realized the whole CSA deal is not worth it. Some crops did not come up and others were small in number given and size. You don't want to pay for something you may not get, and you wouldn't do that in other areas. Also, it's unethical to sell at a farmer's market also and say that you didn't have enough produce to meet the value of what was paid for each week. If they have anything to sell at a market then they have produce to give CSA partners, even if it's a lot of 1 or 2 items. Making it up later in the season isn't good either- you shouldn't have to wait til later. A couple times we were asked if we wanted items included and told it would be decided by majority rule vote? If you have it, you should give it, up to the value paid. Other times, condiments were substituted. That's nice, but we paid for vegetables, not condiments. That said, I realize now any CSA is not a cost effective or good decision.

This was my husband's and my first experience with a CSA. Not knowing what to expect, it was wonderful to receive so much information from them about the upcoming season. After looking at the options, we chose a small share. We got a wonderful selection of veggies each week (despite a very rainy spring/summer) that was at times almost more than the two of us could eat! We got to try some things we had never had before, and everything was of superb quality and taste. Now the season is drawing to a close, and I am sad because we have truly enjoyed it! Wayne and Jo Ann Wilson truly made us feel like part of their family, and you can tell they care about your CSA experience. We can't wait until 2014, and we would both HIGHLY recommend Wilson Family Farm!!!

I started getting the CSA box for the first time last fall and loved it. I loved having fresh vegetables and experimenting with vegetables that we had not tried before. I will definitely be getting the boxes this year and the Wilson Family is just wonderful to work with. I can't rate them high enough.

I agree with so many of the comments posted. It is always a pleasant experience to pick up the beautiful veggies at the farm. I usually bring grandchildren with me and they love to see the chickens and things growing.
There is a variety of vegatables and plenty for the week and sometimes some to share or freeze.
JoAnn, Wayne, Jenny, and Charles work so hard to make this
.an outstanding CSA. It's just too long 'til May '13.

We participated in the Wilson's CSA for the first time this summer. We were SO impressed with the quality & variety of veggies, & would recommend Wilson Family Farm CSA to anyone. There was always a large variety & it was fun to go through our box every week & see what "presents" we received! :) Jo Ann provided some great recipes & advice on how to prepare & store the veggies. That was great as we received a few things I had never purchased or prepared before. The veggies that were new for us ended up being some of our favorites! And definitely the best quality veggies I've ever had. We are hooked! :)

This is my 2nd year participating in the CSA with Wilson Family Farm (summer & fall)... and I think I'm hooked! It feels a bit like Christmas each week when we receive our box full of delicious, fresh, clean, and beautiful (yes, beautiful) veggies! They include a good variety from week to week so I never feel too overloaded with any one item. This year my husband and I split a share with a coworker (and her family of 4) and I found it to be the right quantity of items. The Wilsons allow for pickups at 2 locations and they were so so awesome with accommodating the ever changing pick up needs of me and my coworker!! Jo Ann and Wayne are the nicest people! Jo Ann usually sends a weekly email with information about what is in the current box or what can be expected in the next, along with recipes.
I know for myself, I want increase the fresh veggies in my diet and support local farmers... but I can get so overwhelmed at the Farmer's Markets. When I pick up the already paid for CSA box each week, I know that I need to make use of the veggies, so it "forces" me (or inspires me) to incorporate them into my meals and to also try veggies I might ordinarily pass up in the market. Anyway, I could go on... nothing but a positive experience with the Wilson Family Farm CSA. Needless to say, I'll be signing up again next spring!

We really enjoyed getting the Wilson Family Farms CSA this year. We did the summer and fall CSA and were very pleased with both! We have four kids and we loved going through the boxes each week to see what new veggies we had. My kids even ate the veggies! Which is cool too! Fresh is best. It was also nice to get things that I normally would not buy on my own and discover new foods and new ways of fixing them! Wayne and Jo Ann are great people and I would highly recommend them!

This is my first time buying produce straight from the farmers but the Wilsons have made it a great experience. The vegetables were cleaned, packaged and ready for me to pick up. Fresh is definately the best! I would recommend the Wilsons to anyone.

When I decided to try a CSA this year, I chose Wilson Family Farm. I really didn't know what to expect since I had never done a CSA before. I was very pleased with the vegetables I received, both with the quality and the variety. Everything we received was very fresh and tasty. In addition, Wayne and Jo Ann Wilson take great care to provide the best product possible. Thanks to Jo Ann's recipes and preparation suggestions, I am a much better cook than I was at the start of spring! I would definitely recommend Wilson Family Farm to anyone who is considering a CSA or looking for a reliable vendor at the Farmer's Market.

Not only was the produce we received from the Wilson Family Farm bountiful and beautiful, it was so delicious. I split a share with 2 friends and it was plenty for all of us. It was great knowing the produce had been picked on Thursday morning before we picked it up that afternoon. I was able to try a lot of new vegetables and learned a new way of cooking some.
thanks so much.........

I have been buying from the Wilson Family farm at the Oak Ridge farmers market for several years. They are one of my favorite vendors. The selection of greens, spinach, lettuce are exceptional. They're produce is always fresh, fresh, fresh. They also offer a good variety of root vegetables. The fresh-cut flowers are a treat and long lasting. AND their Christmas wreaths are a beautiful way to cap off the year!!
