The people at Wilson's farm are nice and it can be kind of fun and nice to pick up a box each week, but the season was not good and I've realized the whole CSA deal is not worth it. Some crops did not come up and others were small in number given and size. You don't want to pay for something you may not get, and you wouldn't do that in other areas. Also, it's unethical to sell at a farmer's market also and say that you didn't have enough produce to meet the value of what was paid for each week. If they have anything to sell at a market then they have produce to give CSA partners, even if it's a lot of 1 or 2 items. Making it up later in the season isn't good either- you shouldn't have to wait til later. A couple times we were asked if we wanted items included and told it would be decided by majority rule vote? If you have it, you should give it, up to the value paid. Other times, condiments were substituted. That's nice, but we paid for vegetables, not condiments. That said, I realize now any CSA is not a cost effective or good decision.
