I support local growers and organic food that does not have hormones, etc added to the product. I am against companies who condone cruelty to animals for the sake of gaining a profit and local farmers treat their animals much better.

I love the fresh shelling peas, tasty strawberries and raspberries, the extra sweet sweet corn. and real tomato-y tomatoes. They are all much better than what we can generally get in the grocery stores.

SW MN is corn, bean, and hog country. The city of Mankato turned its back to local farmers decades ago yet the Mankato's Farmer's Market continues to be the desintation that has for the areas culture of food; more popular and vibrant as ever. It is a place that has all you need. You can listen to music, buy art, flowers, soap, herbs, bread, cheese, meat, and ice cream. This is an expansive market that has survived decades of being ignored by the mainstream yet has never strayed from its original mission and purpose.

You can not beat the taste of home grown tomatoes, fresh eggs, sweet raspberries. I love the artist who comes to sit and paint, the families who get a treat as they shop and the seniors who share years of experience with those of who will listen.
