As the Hollywood Farmers Market still thrives, I am so grateful for all the effort and enthusiasm that Pompea Smith put into creating this market for our community. The new board should make her a monument of recognition, not only for the market but for all the activities she began - thank you so much Pompea Smith for making fresh produce available for us! The variety you researched has created a well-founded food hub with healthy varieties!

I LOVE the Hollywood farmer's market. In a city like Hollywood, we are starved for a sense of the community, and this farmer's market every Sunday provides just that! There is a balloon man, fresh lemonade and kettle corn for the kids, live entertainment, delicious food stands, a great mobile cafe in the center which is a great meet up, and but of course, a bounty of local, sustainable, mostly organic produce! There are also bee keepers who bring their fresh honey, bakers, raw dairy farmers, bison, ostrich, and oyster farmers, a fresh seafood vender, a sprout maker, and several fresh poultry and egg vendors. I especially love the real buffalo mozzarella and fresh goat cheese you can get straight from the dairy farm. You can literally purchase EVERYTHING you need for the week without having to make another stop which is incredible. Also, you can do some of the best people watching in the world at the Hollywood farmer's market - it is a haven for foodies, families, and hipsters alike!

I've gotten most of my food from the Hollywood Farmer's Market, since it opened, about 18 years ago. The vendors are fabulous. The vibe is friendly and open. So much more organic food, than many other LA area local markets. The artisan vendors are great too. You can always pick up great soap, great skin care items, handcarved spoons for gifts, a great hat. All sorts of other foods, like nuts, oils, crafted vinegars, raw milk, fresh organic cheese, amazingly fresh fish. Free range grass fed Buffalo, free range chicken, cornish chicken. Oysters. Amazingly fresh eggs. I can make food for the week that rivals any expensive restaurant.

Get to this market when it opens and the abundance of California is available to you. This market is festive and lively in the heart of Hollywood off the Walk of Fame. I always run into friends, and rarely have trouble finding even the most unusual ingredients.

I have been shopping the HFM for so many years, I can't even remember when I started- It has brought life into a derelict part of Hollywood, renewed peoples sense of community and allowed them to shop, speak with the growers, get to KNOW what they are eating and what's the freshest seasonal produce at the moment- Meeting up with long lost friends is a serendipitous side effect of shopping at The Hollywood Farmers Market!

I used to live in Hollywood...now that I am in Topanga it has been hard to find a market like the one in Hollywood. It always had EVERYTHING I needed, fresh, organic, and always great prices. It was also not BOMBARDED with cooked foods as some other markets are. It has the perfect blend of a variety of foods and produce. I also used to walk to it and well it's probably one of the things I miss most about living there. :D

Varied vendors, friendly and helpful, but mostly I go to this one because of the fish vendor. Fresh, delicious fish, the divine Miz M is generous with the customer and gives good serving suggestions. Plus, you get the cut you want. No pre-wrapped cuts like other market I've been to. She and her husband Pete at the Plummer Park market have superior fish choices.

That was what I picked for my Mother's day gift, to get something fresh from the Hollywood Farmers Market for dinner that day. Wonderful.

The number one reason would be selection. They have everything and usually multiple choices of farmers to go to for your produce needs. I can get almost everything I need for my groceries in one place. Many of the farmers are friendly and make it a habit of remembering me and appreciating loyalty with special discounts and freebies. J and P West Coast Seafood has the most beautiful fresh fish around. Marilyn and her sister have gotten me addicted to their grand fish selection and I can't stay away! Carmela farmers market fresh ice cream makes you feel like you have churned it yourself. The Mushroom lady has the best prices and is one of the few mushroom farmers at markets around. In addition to all the amazing produce the prepared food vendors are brilliant. I have tried Pupusas elsewhere but never found them as tasty as Delmy ( not sure I got the name right) You can find muffins and granola that are naturally sweetened with no sugar. Dave's Vegan Korean food makes Tempeh from Blackbeans and Rice instead of Soy. I could go on for hours. Some of the vendors I see at other markets but this is the place where I can get them all at once!! I am going to go eat some of J& P West Coast Seafood Smoked Salmon with a Hollywood Market Produce full salad right now!!!

It's a total cross section of Los Angeles - has people from the Hollywood Hills to the "Streets" and everything in between. It also has wonderful range of food, artfully displayed - from "elbow-dripping juicy" produce to mouthwatering food prepared right there. The entertainment goes from kid's balloons to sophisticated jazz. My friend from Boston chose the Hollywood Farmers Market over the Getty!
It truly displays all the colors of the rainbow - in it's food and in its people.

The hollywood farmer's market offers a sense of community that one doesn't get often living in the LA area. There is everything from busking musicians to artisans to the traditional farmer vendors and hot food. But this market is huge and also offers the largest array of organic food of any farmer's market in the area, something that is important to me due to health concerns. This is my favorite outing of the week and I hope they win. The friendly farmers and artisans of the market deserve it!
