I have been a member of FFM for 2 years now. First started with getting a turkey for Thanksgiving and then found out about the CSA. They provide some of the highest quality produce I've ever had. Sustainable, in season, local, grown using organic practices, they tick all the boxes. They provide an amazing service to the Cleveland area. Plus, the people that work there are incredibly nice and accommodating.

2020 was my first year doing a CSA in Akron (after 10+ years as a CSA member in Western NY.) I was disappointed by my experience getting a small vegan share for the summer. Much of the produce seemed to go bad more quickly than I expected, indicating that it was not picked that day (which was my prior experience and expectation.) Often there was too little of something to really make it usable (I believe we got half-pints of Brussels sprouts.) Or things I was confused by like dry beans, or a half-gallon of apple cider. (It's great that these items are local, but not what I want.) This also meant there was more plastic than I would have liked. Other issues: someone put a melon on top of the heirloom tomatoes the one time we got them; most vegans don't eat honey so getting pizza dough with honey was not a win for me. :(

I loved the concept of subscribing to a CSA. The idea of getting a bag of farm-fresh food was really appealing. There was generally a nice variety of produce, including several items we had never tried before. That was the good part.
The not-so-good? The quality of the produce was inconsistent. Some was excellent, but most was of a quality I would have left at my local farmers market. Either items were very small, or it didn't look or taste very good. Some things were downright bad. Brown broccoli; soft, leaky tomatoes; corn worms to name a few.
Would I try it again? Possibly, but I'm going to look at other CSA options first.

I've been a Fresh Fork member for about 6 years, and we love it! I love supporting local farmers and producers, the food is top-quality, and I love the convenience of the many pickup stops to choose from. I can pick up during the week on my way home from work (downtown Cleveland), or 5 minutes away from my home in Mentor.
Trevor and his staff do a wonderful job of providing variety and quality. There are several subscriptions to choose from, including vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore. I have found that we have saved money on groceries, because we plan meals around our bag items, rather than randomly buying (usually too much) at the grocery store.
We opted out last fall to take a break, and I found I couldn't wait till spring came so we could sign up again. It's a great program!

I had never tried a CSA before...and tried it for the first time in the summer of 2013! I love the freshness and especially the variety! Every week, I know I would be surprised with new fruits and vegetables. It caused me to try new things! I also especially like that they also include meats, dairy and other items. Fresh Fork became my supermarket in the summer! I highly recommend it...and can't wait for summer 2014 to arrive!
