I had been vegetarian for many years but I decided to introduce small amounts of chicken into my diet to help lower carbohydrates/triglycerides and to raise my protein intake. It is extremely important to me that the chickens are raised and killed as humanely as possible. I visited the Frontier Family Farm several times. I observed the raising and processing of the chickens to be certain that they were treated humanely at every phase. I got to know Dave and Heather quite well before I finally ordered my first chicken. I was impressed at how much effort they put into making sure that the chickens were well cared for. I was also amazed at how delicious the chicken was as it was the most tender, fresh and wholesome chicken I had ever eaten. My diet is still 95% vegetarian but the added protein ( 2 chickens per month) has helped me to lose weight and I feel better. It is so great that the Fikel family is making this service available to the local community.

I visited the New Frontier Family Farm a few weeks ago and had a great experience. They explained that they were just settling in to their new place and described all the plans they had for the near future. Dave and Heather were very friendly and funny and explained the process of growing the chickens and preparing them to be sold. He also explained that grass fed beef was available to order in large quantities if I was interested.
I'm looking forward to the farm dinners they will be hosting under all their beautiful trees!
If you are looking for fresh chicken I highly recommend them.
