I just wanted to say that I went there on Saturday and the bounty I received was awesome....I got beets, asparagus, a cantaloupe, leeks, baby eggplant, tomatoes, green peppers, plums, peaches, green beans, and yellow squash....oh and I did get a bottle of fresh beet, carrot and ginger juice as well as some fresh dried herbs and 2 basil plants - 1 sweet and 1 lemon....love the quality and the variety, I had never cooked with leeks or eggplant and the venders of those products gave me some ideas on how to use them....I will be going back again....the only complaint would be the plums were a little bland and mushy but I will use them...

The produce at this farmer's market comes from all over the country - not just from Texas. Last Saturday, the vendor who I'd assumed owned a local farm let it slip that his peaches come from Colorado. On the same day, the only other produce vendor let me know that his new grape tomatoes come from the same farm as his heirlooms, letting me know that he didn't own a local farm either. When I cut my farmer's market zucchinis open later that week, I found the seeds to be moldy, and the insides a strange shade of pink. And the Colorado peaches? Mealy & tasteless. While there are vendors at the market that sell homemade granola and other wares, I am incredibly disappointed, and I likely will go back to shopping the organic section of the HEB.

You should try the Belton Market once a month. It is amazing and all of the produce, fruit, and homemade good are amazing! Some of the best cantaloupe I've ever had in my life! The tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, and squash I would highly reccomend also. I went for my first time last month. I am definitely going again & this time early and taking more money to stock up. Check it out!

Kristen, The Harker Heights Farmers Market prides itself on offering the community local produce. However, on occasion when a certain product is not available or in season in the state of Texas we will let vendors sell out of state products. The vendors are mandated to advertise that their produce is from another state to reduce confusion and to not false advertise ourselves. We accept vendors that grow their own produce and those who are part of a co-op. Therefore, it is possible that the new grape tomatoes came from a co-op. I apologize that your produce was not to satisfaction a few days after purchase. I strongly believe that all vendors bring and want to bring quality products to our Market. Old or moldy produce is to no benefit of anyone. I do hope you give us another chance in our 2013 season. In addition, I welcome any suggestions on how we can make our Farmers Market better. I'm sorry that some others had a different experience but I thought that the market was great and something new and needed in our community. It's true that it's small and more farmers are definitely a must but it's an up-and-coming market and all the merchants were very polite and friendly. I think its much like a bazaar and I'll definitely go again to support and encourage these farmers and crafters. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day!

Meagan, We appreciate your patience and trust in us as we continue to grow our Market. We started in May 2011 with 4 vendors and have grown to 38 vendors in the 2012 season. We find that to be quite the accomplishment and it is thanks to consumers like you. I do hope you check us out in the 2013 season. Regards, Heather Cox Market Coordinator

Went to this market and i agree nothing is there. I went to Killeen Farmers market and they had tons more food and better service, they were very friendly. Also looked them up online and found they have their own website at facebook and the City of Killeen is helping them out. Killeenfarmersmarket@facebook.com you might find better food and service in killeen.

Juan, I am sorry to hear that our Farmers Market did not offer enough variety. We are a growing organization and strive to improve ourselves. We do our best to attract area vendors by charging no fee to be a vendor. It is unfortunate, that we have fallen short of your expectations. On behalf of the vendors I would like to apologize if you were treated in an unkind manner or did not receive friendly service. We want to create a relationship between the consumer and grower and customer service is an extremely important factor. I do hope you visit our 2013 Market, so that we may have another chance to give you the products you are looking for. In addition, I welcome any suggestions on how we can make our Farmers Market better. Regards, Heather Cox Market Coordinator

Perhaps it's just Texas but there was really no produce available. A few tomatoes, squash, onions maybe but nothing I could buy in bulk and take home to can up. There was plenty of hand crafted items and homemade goodies but I can find that anywhere.

Robin, I am sorry to hear that our Market did not provide you with a wider variety of produce. Most of our vendors are small time farmers and do not grow huge gardens. We are a small community and offer the best we can. We appreciate your opinion. So much so that we have limited the number of hand crafted items in the 2013 season, as it appears that that is something the consumer does not want. We do hope you give us another chance in the 2013 season. Regards, Heather Cox Market Coordinator
