Harker Heights Farmers Market At Seton Medical Center Harker Heights

The produce at this farmer's market comes from all over the country - not just from Texas. Last Saturday, the vendor who I'd assumed owned a local farm let it slip that his peaches come from Colorado. On the same day, the only other produce vendor let me know that his new grape tomatoes come from the same farm as his heirlooms, letting me know that he didn't own a local farm either. When I cut my farmer's market zucchinis open later that week, I found the seeds to be moldy, and the insides a strange shade of pink. And the Colorado peaches? Mealy & tasteless. While there are vendors at the market that sell homemade granola and other wares, I am incredibly disappointed, and I likely will go back to shopping the organic section of the HEB.

You should try the Belton Market once a month. It is amazing and all of the produce, fruit, and homemade good are amazing! Some of the best cantaloupe I've ever had in my life! The tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, and squash I would highly reccomend also. I went for my first time last month. I am definitely going again & this time early and taking more money to stock up. Check it out!

Kristen, The Harker Heights Farmers Market prides itself on offering the community local produce. However, on occasion when a certain product is not available or in season in the state of Texas we will let vendors sell out of state products. The vendors are mandated to advertise that their produce is from another state to reduce confusion and to not false advertise ourselves. We accept vendors that grow their own produce and those who are part of a co-op. Therefore, it is possible that the new grape tomatoes came from a co-op. I apologize that your produce was not to satisfaction a few days after purchase. I strongly believe that all vendors bring and want to bring quality products to our Market. Old or moldy produce is to no benefit of anyone. I do hope you give us another chance in our 2013 season. In addition, I welcome any suggestions on how we can make our Farmers Market better.
