We've been members of the CSA for about 8 years now. When we started we were a typical peas, corn, carrots, green beans, broccoli and cauliflower family. With the CSA we have been introduced to so many different vegetables, and we discovered we liked most of them enough, that 3 years ago we became vegetarians. We love being able to get our vegetables organic and local. Many of the vegetables are picked the day I pick up so the freshness and taste is far superior to the grocery store plus we get many heirloom varieties that we never see in the grocery store. Steve and Duncan our farmers are present for our pick up and always eager to make suggestions and answer questions. We have a great newsletter every week which tells us what veggies we might expect the following week plus storage information, recipe ideas and information about what's happening on the farm. We will definitely be returning for 2016!

Five years ago I decided to investigate local community supported ag. options. Our family has been a GEI member since. As consumers we've enjoyed organic vegetables at a price which I feel is better than other options. The food is fresher, often harvested the day of pickup. Among the unexpected benefits are the varieties of selections which are unavailable at other grocers, thus leading to new tasting opportunities, and the information in the weekly newsletter website posting. It provides recipes, storage information, background about some of the unfamiliar vegetables and comments from the farmers Steve and Duncan about their experiences the preceeding week. Those reports were interesting enough to lead to volunteering at the farm and meeting others sharing some of the same interests. The GEI csa has provided great food, learning experiences and friendships. We're looking forward to the Spring season.

I have been a CSA share holder since 2003, and love it. Farmer Steve, other CSA members, staff and volunteers are always happy share cooking tips and tricks. The variety is fantastic. Best of all it's local and organic.

This is our fourth year as members of the CSA and we have loved it! They provide great tasting organic produce, and the newsletter is very helpful. They provide a lot of recipes to help you cook with all the vegetables.

This is my second season as a member of Green Earth Institute, and I have loved every week of it. The produce is excellent, and plentiful. At pickup we get the weekly newsletter as well as an info sheet on each vegetable, and they are packed with great recipes and information about the vegetables. I have tried so many new vegetables that I would not have necessarily bought if I'd seen them in a grocery store, simply due to not knowing what to do with them. My 10 and 12 year old boys love going to the farm, and we spend the ride home with them pouring over the recipes and deciding what to cook for dinner. They have several favorites now, including a "shrek smoothie" made with kale. It is bright green, and they adore it. Who would have though, my kids begging me for kale!
Head farmer Steve Tiwald is always there to talk with us, and share stories about the farm and the week's work. It is wonderful to have a connection with the people who grow so much of the food that my family eats for much of the year. Fresh through the growing season, and we can soups and tomato sauce and pickles for winter.

This will be our third year with the Green Earth Institute and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a CSA in Naperville and surrounding areas. It is well run and the produce is excellent and plentiful. I was nervous about joining originally because I was worried that I wouldn't know what to do with so many veggies I had never cooked before. But the website and newsletter have a lot of great information (including recipes for kids).

My kids love the Shrek Smoothie too! I'm following that lead and adding kale/spinach/chard to potato soup and calling Shrek Swamp Soup. I love Shrek :-)
