We were extremely happy with our experience at Herndon Hills. The property is gorgeous and well-maintained, the berries are tasty and the owners are friendly. They have a nice porta-potty available as well as a hose/sink, and a shady area with cold water to drink and chairs for resting after picking. It was getting too late/hot to try picking blackberries, but the blueberry field was expansive, with multiple varieties, and we had no trouble filling our bucket. We never felt crowded or like we were competing for berries (I've felt this way at smaller u-pick farms). Parking was easy as well. We'll be back for sure!

I love this farm as do my kids. They beg to go. The blueberries are amazing and the family is outstanding. Thanks for allowing us to come to your home and enjoy the wonderful picking! Can't wait to see you soon!

We have been going to this farm for several years now. I love their blueberries and picked over 20 pounds last summer! The blackberries are amazing too, but you have to get there early because they go quickly. The muscadine and scuppernong grapes are also great! It's a smallish family run farm, which I love! The owners are very friendly and I enjoy chatting with her about the other veggies and flowers she grows every time we visit.

I went with the kids today (Thursday) at ~9am and managed to get a bucketful of wonderful blackberries, though I definitely recommend getting there earlier (e.g. 7am) if you want a lot of blackberries. They are the Navajo type, which are thornless, making for easy painless picking.

We loved seeing their beautiful chickens...lots of different and interesting breeds.

Enjoyed a beautiful morning with my two kids and their friends until we brought up what we picked to be weighed. Brought $20 and picked $28 worth. I was told they had an ATM. Great for them. But when I asked if there was a fee for using it, the owner attitude was unfriendly and selfish. We ended up leaving there never to go back. Quite shameful way to treat your costumers.

Don't let this loser keep you away from the farm. He thought there was an ATM and then was mad there wasn't one? Genius!

So sorry about the misunderstanding. We don't have an ATM. --Nancy Herndon

I've always found Nancy to be very pleasant, To expect a pick your own farm to have an ATM is not realistic. If someone wants to pay using a credit card or ATM they should shop at a grocery store.

Went there on 6/19/2010 and 6/26/2010 for blackberries. Good fruit, but it's a very small farm, and the secret's out, so you have to get there early. The parking lot was packed at 8AM, and the blackberries were thoroughly picked out by 9:30 both days. They're delicious, though, and the plants are fairly mature.

They've recently planted a lot of blueberry bushes, and someday they will have huge harvests, but for now they are very small. Good to stop by with the kids and pick a handful, but if you want a whole bucket for a pie, you'll want to go somewhere with larger plants. Blueberries and blackberries were $2.75 per pound.

I picked grapes there in '09 and am looking forward to it this year, but they're not nearly ready yet for 2010.
