We are a 2nd generation, family-owned ranch located in Central Idaho. The elevation here is 5000', the growing season is short and winters are often harsh. Instead of battling the snow and cold, we realized 'What a perfect environment to raise Yaks!'
In the summer our Yaks graze on a mixture of grasses and forbs growing in our pastures. They laze in the sun and play in the irrigation ditch.
In the winter they are fed our homegrown grass hay. They laze under a grove of spruce trees and play in the snow.
Each spring we brush out the Yaks thick, soft undercoat as they begin to shed. This Yak Down is similar to cashmere in softness.
Considering a yak of your own? Our herd is growing, contact us for available animals.
We also grow Currants, Gooseberries and Rhubarb.
We continue to look for plants and animals that thrive in our climate and grow well together. We strive to improve our land and the plants and animals living on and around it, always keeping the next generation in mind.
