Farmers' Market to Debut June 16 at UMDNJ Jersey Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Baked Goods for Sale NEWARK, N.J. Apples, peaches, tomatoes, and corn are among the Jersey Fresh produce items that will be available at UMDNJ-The University Hospital Auxiliary's Farmers' Market, which debuts on Tuesday, June 16. Visit UMDNJ's Plaza, located on 12th Avenue between Bergen and Norfolk streets, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., to purchase an assortment of in season fruits and vegetables, such as blueberries, cherries, plums, lettuce, and squash, along with baked goods, including donuts and pies; and fresh-cut flowers. Acceptable forms of payment include cash and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program and Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) vouchers. "I see this Farmers' Market as a marvelous step that UMDNJ can take toward fostering healthy eating for our students and staff, for hospital visitors and for the community at large," said William F. Owen, Jr., M.D., president of UMDNJ. "We are delighted to offer this opportunity for people to discover fresh, tasty and nutritious foods right here on the UMDNJ campus." The Farmers' Market is planned for every other Tuesday through Sept. 29. The Market is sponsored by UMDNJ-The University Hospital's Auxiliary, a volunteer organization established to promote and advance the hospital's mission and committed to making a positive difference in the health and welfare of its patients and the community.
