If you are looking for the best tasting, most thoughtfully raised and most affordable locally raised meat then look no further. I raise all my animals with a 'beyond organic' approach that focuses on grass and pasture based farming with a holistic management program.
Key production and philosophies are: Low Stress handling, Holistic Management, Grass Fed, Pasture Raised and of course no antibiotics, hormones or chemicals. Meat from cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and chickens is sold farm direct on the farm and at farmers markets.
In this program, I personally raise and oversee the productions of Beef, Lamb, Pork, Goat and Chickens. Each of these species has a different impact on the land under their feet and thus a different role to play in the production system which keeps them and the pastures strong and healthy and most importantly keeps the system in balance.
So why do all this and what does a 'strong, healthy and balanced' system mean? It means better tasting meat that is free of antibiotics, hormones and chemicals. How so? Well, a 'strong, healthy and balanced' system operated efficiently without relying on artificial inputs such as synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. This is because the goats eat the weeds, chickens spread manure and eat bugs, pigs clear brush and open up 'capped soil' (so do the chickens) and the sheep and cattle graze the grass to keep it in its maximum growing stage. Combine these animals natural impacts with a carefully timed management intensive grazing rotation and soon there are more species of plants, grasses and legumes growing. This diversity increases nutrition available to all the animals and extends the growing season to give them more time to enjoy it as well.
The result is a most flavorful and tender meat that you can enjoy confidently knowing where it came from and who raised it. Enjoy!
