The Green Hills Ranch

The Green Hills Ranch is a small, family-run operation that directly markets our farm fresh, organic, pastured eggs to the local area (100 mile radius). We are located in Vista, CA, just north of San Diego County. While most of the area has become urbanized, we maintain a small family farm just off the beaten path. Here at The Green Hills Ranch, we want to bring you the best organic pastured eggs possible. That means a healthy, natural environment for our hens. While our eggs qualify as free range eggs, we feel pastured eggs is a better description, as our chickens do not simply have access to the outdoors, but we allow them to run wild and free during the day. While it is too expensive to officially certify our small family farm as USDA certified organic, we follow organic farming practices to ensure you receive healthiest, most nutritious eggs possible. We follow sustainable practices and do not use fertilizers or pesticides, other than the natural fertilizer provided by the chickens. Our chickens are kept in a safe house at night and then allowed out among the avocado groves to eat grass and bugs all day. Our chickens graze on organic green pastures, native grasses, herbs, seeds, naturally occurring bugs, and organic vegetables grown on the farm. And they are never given antibiotics or growth hormones. You can always purchase eggs directly from the farm or you can pick them up at three convenient weekly locations: Tuesdays in Carlsbad, CA, Fridays in downtown Vista, CA, and Sundays in Encinitas, CA.
