Goose Run Farms

Located northeast of Columbus in Licking County, Ohio, near Homer, we offer grass-fed lamb and free-range brown eggs from our 78-acre hobby-farm. Named after a stream on the property, the farm consists of pastures, century-old buildings, and numerous types of wildlife habitat including woods, grasses, meadows, and ponds. Our USDA-inspected lamb, from our naturally-raised,pastured flocks of sheep, is available for purchase frozen at the nearby Homer Village Market, which we own, or "on-the-hoof" by appointment at our farm. Sometimes we offer private farm tours, picnics, and wildlife hikes at the farm. No fishing or hunting permits are available at this time but possibly in the future as we recently acquired an adjoining 20-acre parcel of land with a lodge and barn.

Our laying hens and livestock enjoy lush pastures supplemented by commercial feed produced at our local feed store. Their feed contains no hormones, medications or animal by-products. We provide our animals and pets loving care, fresh water and pasture, roomy shelter, and veterinary care as rarely needed. The lambs are processed at a local, USDA-inspected facility where the meat is cut to order, vaccuum packed, labeled and frozen. Our fresh eggs and many cuts of (frozen) lamb are conveniently available at the nearby Homer Village Market. If you want a whole lamb either live or cut to order at a USDA processing facility, we can usually supply these from mid-summer to late fall upon request. Produce and firewood are available seasonally.

Our chickens are heavy breeds of brown-egg layers including Australorps, Orpingtons, and many others. Our sheep breeds include Suffolk/Jacob cross, Katahdin/Dorper, Katahdin, Polypay, and Cheviot. We are moving toward the Katahdin breed (hair sheep) due to its quality of meat, resistance to parasites, and no-shearing or tail docking needed.
