We subscribed to this CSA for a second season this year. We had a great experience with the freshness and variety, home delivery and good communication by email from this supplier. Unfortunately something seems to have changed this year. After some difficulty getting our first delivery, we found our delivery service to be erratic and unpredictable, with our produce box coming on different days with no notice and some weeks, especially later in the season, not at all. Art helped us work out the initial delivery problems but then stopped responding to emails and phone calls about our missing boxes. Most disappointingly, we signed up for the 20 pounds for 20 weeks package, but received only 15 deliveries. A returned phone call would have made a great difference in our experience. We will not be renewing our subscription.

We are sorry that you had a rough experience with us. Please reach out to us again at 304/258-7914 and we will do our best to make it up to you. We had a driver last year who was not dependable and unfortunately we did not find out until after more than three weeks. We count on our customers to report to us any problems that they have experienced. We would love to have you come back as a customer, we will find a way to make it up to you. Give us a call!!

2013 was my first CSA subscription.

Cons: -It took a few deliveries to get on a regular schedule. So when I ran out of food, I never knew if I should go and pick up a day or two worth, or just nibble at what's left and wait for the delivery.

-6/10 deliveries contained one or three veggies that were way overripe and starting to go bad.

-This farm is bad about answering their phones/emails if you have a question or a complaint.

-I don't care for most of the veggies they grew.

Pros:

+The veggies were fresh and delicious. I don't remember ever eating such melt-in-your-mouth cantelope. And what I wouldn't do for that sweet watermelon this chilly November night.

+The tomatoes were as juicy as they say.

+I love the peace of mind that I get when eating local, naturally grown produce. I feel uneasy buying organic apples from New Zealand. And I'm pregnant, so supporting the local farmers who treat the earth and veggies right is doubly important now.

+I think Heirloom Italy AP Marrone CSA costs less than if you bought the same at a farmer's market.

+I don't have a car, so the CSA saved me many ours of time, money and trouble trouble of lugging veggies from the farmers market.

Would I join a CSA again? Most definitely. Would I join Heirloom Italy A P Marrone Farm? Only if there was no other CSA in my price range because as fresh as these veggies are, none of them are my favorites.

Picked up some tomatoes at the Charles Town Farmers Market this past Saturday. They were AMAZING! I swear I have not had a tomato this good since I was a child. I will be back for more!

This is the first time I've tried a CSA and I couldn't be happier. The produce has been of very good quality, the recipes have been yummy and the service has been great. I'll definitely subscribe again next year.

We have been thrilled with the quality and variety of produce that we have gotten this year from Heirloom Italy AP Marrone Farm. Every week there is an excellent variety of produce. It has been delicious and fresh. I've been able to introduce more vegetables into our family's meals with actual enthusiasm about them, thanks to this CSA. I've heard that other CSAs have quality/variety issues, and that has never been an issue here -- there is a great variety every week in our box. They are wonderful! We are so delighted, we will definitely be repeat customers. I highly recommend this CSA.

This is also my first year with a CSA and I have been quite satisfied with the quality and variety of the produce. Art has been wonderful about helping us pick produce that works for my vegetable-challenged family.

Given my experience, I will definitely purchase a CSA again next year and will most likely go with the Marrone Farm again.

This is our first year joining a CSA. We have had a very positive experience. The owners of Heirloom Italy work hard so that we can enjoy great food. Once I did go to the farmer's market to pick up my box of produce and they didn't have it. They apoligized and delivered it to my house and gave me extra for the inconvenience. I am quite happy with our experience and can't wait to see what kinds of produce we receive each week. We love our farmers!

This is our first experience with a CSA and we are loving it! The veggies are yummy and we love the variety. Our kids get excited every week to see what goodies are in the box. I love that it forces me to try to new recipes because I want to use what I've got even if it's something I never would've bought before. I appreciate the fact that delivery is available- that is very convenient me. great mix of veggies- very fresh--has change how we look at summer meals-- love it!

My husband and I were very excited to join our first CSA, but unfortunately we have been disappointed beyond belief with the quality of vegetables that we have received in addition to the treatment received from the owners. When I filed a complaint with the owners, I was basically called a liar because I was the only who had complained about the quality of vegetables and since that original email correspondence, I have not received answers to my emails. The week after my initial complaint, the quality increased, but it was still worse than other produce available at the Farmer's Market. This past week was the absolute worse. The broccoli that we received was rotten on the inside, the collard greens had bug larvae on them, and the majority of the tomatoes had mold and brown spots on them. My advice would be not to sign up for a CSA with this Farm. You are better off going to the Farmer's Market and picking your own produce than relying on the produce from this Farm.

This was disputed, and found to be a wrongful dispute, in our favor! I do hope no one deterred from getting a subscription! Thanks, Heirloom Italy

Ms. Endler recieved quite a few boxes from her subscription, and then the complaints started. We gave Ms. Endler pounds upon pounds of free vegetables, trying to please her. We even STOPPED delivering to her, and asked her to come directly to the farmer's market, and pick the vegetables up herself, so she could see, AT THAT MOMENT, exactly how great of produce she was getting. Week after, her husband was picking this produce up, ACCEPTING IT AND TAKING IT HOME, and then however many days later, we would get an email saying she was unhappy. She cancelled her subscirption, asking for the entire amount back. She recieved boxes and boxes of free produce that she HAD BEEN HAPPY WITH AND SAID SO, and still decided she was not going to pay for ANYTHING. This review is SO upsetting. Our customers are THRILLED with the produce they recieve, most of which has already exclaimed how they will be back next year. I realize we cannot please everyone, but to say that our produce and our CSA is horrible is simply not the truth, and I told Ms. Endler this. We have poured our hearts into this business, not to have an unpleasable lady bash us where our future customers come from. She is not even a localharvest member, but wanted to make sure her opinion was somewhere out there, so there it is. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns, and we are more than happy to talk to you directly at (304) 725-2347

Bugs and imperfections are found on plants not treated with harmful chemicals. Wash the produce, cut off the imperfections and enjoy the food knowing that it is much better for you that a superficial looking veggie.

This is the best produce around! They sell many varieties of squash, tomatoes, and peppers, which are all exceptional. The long neck pumpkins make the best pies! I have never tasted an onion as sweet as those from here. Love the sweet potatoes, eggplant and watermelon also. The cantaloupes are the best I've ever tasted. Keep up the good work! This is what I call having a green thumb!

This produce is unbelievable! I've tried various types of cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, onions, squash, and other organic produce. It's so fresh and delicious. I make weekly trips from MD to WV to buy from this farm. If you are looking for fresh and delicious produce, check out the AP Marrone Farm!
