We are essentially an urban garden in the Northwoods. Developed on four city lots in Houghton we offer organically raised tomatoes, Italian beans, peppers, greens, herbs and raspberries. When you see the sign "Wanted leaves and grass clippings" you have found us on Portage Street. Most crops are not available until late July due to the prolonged cool conditions in Houghton. We encourage young people to join us as interns in exchange for produce.

Blue Skies Cottage Garden opened in 2010 with our initial testing of vegetable varieties to grow in Houghton. We have expanded to four city lots with two small hoop houses where we grow great-tasting tomatoes and peppers. All of our soil is enhanced naturally using composted leaves from surrounding neighbors. We offer a huge drop off location for grass clipping and leaves for composting. Do drop by to see how we improve the local soil for great vegetables.
