Turtle Run

Turtle Run is a small family farm in historic Saxapahaw NC. Our specialties include a delicious small purple plum tomato that we call "Little Cherokee" . This tomato was developed here at our farm quite by accident after we noticed a biologic sport on a small length of tomato vine on an otherwise normal looking Sungold tomato plant. We then crossed the sport with an heirloom variety called Cherokee Purple. After 5 years the strain seems to have stabilized and can replicate itself year after year without crossing. Turtle Run is also the home of the legendary "useyerfoot" handwashing machine seen at numerous festivals and events throughout the area.
