Excelsior Orchards was first established in the North Fork Valley of the Gunnison River in the 1890's by the Turner Brothers and has remained a working orchard over its hundred year history. In 1996, the Orchard became Certified Organic by the state of Colorado and currently has three varieties of cherries Bing, Rainier and pie cherries, two varieties each of apricots, pears and Fuji and Gala apples, and four varieties of peaches and an exceptionally delicious variety of nectarines and new varieties of plums. Excelsior Orchards at an elevation of 6000 feet is located above the Minnesota Creek drainage and on the north slope of Mount Lamborn. Also available are pure organic fruit juices and ciders, dried fruit and tasty eggs from guinea fowl, canned and preserved fruit, conserves, chutneys and sauces.
