Joy B's Farm has been operated Organically and Biodynamically (as possible without animals) since 1973, and offers CSA "roots and fruits" packages. Roots include garlic, potatoes, turnips, daikon radish, chinese red radish and beets; fruits are either frozen or put up as preserves (raspberry, blackberry, currants, gooseberry, quince, plum, (cherries next year) using all organic ingredients (and jaggery); also included is honey (also complete combs). Nettles (preserved, frozen or dried) and medicinal and culinary herbs are part of the package.
Cooperatives are offered for CSA members to grow additional crops in the dedicated 1 1/2 acre south-facing field, as a collaborative: Each person grows one or two companion crops. Surplus produce may be sold to other CSA members. Cooperatives for pastured hens (with organic feed), for eggs. Goat's dairy is in preparation as a herd-share to coincide with legalization in New Jersey; members will hand-milk the goats, once a week.
CSA full and half-shares are available. Membership in the CSA entitles participation in cooperatives for growing additional crops as well as for pastured chicken eggs. Rent-a-Maple Tree for sap is available for $10 for the season for CSA members ($25. for others).
For an additional fee, CSA Members who choose to keep their own organic chickens, may board them in chicken-tractors at the farm. Also CSA Members my board their own goat(s) at the farm.
