McGreal Family Farm

McGreal Family Farm is a small farm rooted in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Young farmers Jake McGreal and Lara Mangialardi met at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa in 2014. Jake is an Iowa native with a background in engineering who grew up on his family's cattle ranch. His parents have been maintaining a herd of cows for about 30 years, which has now reached 200 head. It is from this upbringing and desire for family collaboration that McGreal Family Farm was cultivated. Jake manages the day-to-day operations, including tending to livestock, seasonal harvesting, and maintenance, in addition to working as a handyman in his down time. Lara was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in the western suburbs. While she never imagined a life of farming, she has grown to love spending time gardening, canning, picking berries, pressing apples into cider, staring up at a bright sky full of stars, and doing porch yoga with chickens and farm cats. Her role in the business includes networking and creating connections with other producers and customers, as well as engaging in social media marketing and website development. The pair values creating local connections, and welcomes you to a farm tour to observe their practices firsthand.
