No chemicals since 1985. Our unique climate in the Upper Salinas Valley makes our heirloom tomatoes and melons sweeter than that raised anywhere else. Plenty of sun and cool nights. Fruit sugars form between 60 and 80 degreees, night and morning.
We grow a dozen varieties of heirloom tomatoes, all colors and flavors, and Celebrity hybrid red tomatoes Our cucumbers are the small, round Lemon Cucumbers, an old kind with no bitterness and no burp. The melons are Ambrosia, Rocky Sweet, Ananas (Sharlyn), French (Charentais, Cavaillon), Boule d'Or, Honeyloupe (Honeydew x cantaloupe), and other gourmet varieties. Watermelons: choose seedless or with seeds. Pumpkins are Jack-o-Lantern or French Cooking Pumpkin (Rouge d'Hiver, Rouge Vif d'Etempes, Cinderella). Winter squashes are of many varieties and our own crosses.
We sun dry our tomatoes. That means in the sun, not in a dehydrator. They are more flexible and tasty that way. Sundried tomatoes can be shipped by mail. Nothing is added to them. Ingredient: tomatoes.
We go to the following farmers markets: Cambria, Santa Monica (Wed., Sat. and Sun.), Santa Barbara (Sat., Santa Barbara St. at Cota), Aptos, and Monterey. Season is July (we hope) through Oct. or Nov., sometimes Dec.
Farm Tours by appointment. No Saturdays, but Sunday afternoon or weekdays are fine. Call or email us for an appointment.
We have followed organic practices since 1985, but do not subscribe to a certifying organization. We use no artificial chemicals of any kind, at any time.
