Park Forest Main Street Market

Park Forest is a small suburb of Chicago that has always been on the cutting edge. It was initially developed as the first planned community giving WWII veterans a safe, affordable, family community in which to raise their families. It has been the first community of it's kind to have it's own theater and center for performing arts, the first symphony orchestra which later evolved into the Illinois Philharmonic and the first community to welcome and encourage diversity of its people. In addition, here in Park Forest we have been "green" long before it became the trendy thing to do. And boy are we glad it is a trend. Back in the 1970's many families drove their recyclabes to a community center, and now for many years we have had curb side recycling that actually makes a profit for the community. Others can learn from us!! The Farmers Market in Park Forest has been in full swing for decades and provides the village and surrounding communities with the fruits of labor of many local farmers and growers. What better way to eat healthy and support our local growers!
