Bartlett Farmers Market

When you go to the Bartlet Farmers Market buyer beware. Windy Acres from Geneva, IL. participates in the Bartlett, IL Farmers Market. On 8/29/08, I bought a watermelon (~$7.00). When I cut it in half, there was a huge crack (+) running though the middle of the watermelon. Because of this the melon was dry. I immediately returned it to the Farmers Market. Windy Acres refused to give me a refund. I did not want to take a chance on another watermelon. The representative for Windy Acres arrogantly insisted that the watermelon was perfect. Then she told me I could pick out other produce, which I did not need. I am sure they have a good product; it's not that hard to grow produce. But if you are running a business, customer service is key, and that is lacking. Remember the customer is always right. Unfortunately once they got a hold of my cash, it was gone, because that's their priority, not the customer. For me, this experience has also tainted other businesses that participate in the market, which may have excellent customer service policies.

I will shop at Jewel which carries local produce, or Caputos in Hanover Park which has a large and fresh selection of produce. If you are not satisfied they will refund your money. Also, If you're in the Bartlett area try Toms Market on Lake Street. They are customer friendly and stand behind what they sell. Bartlett officials were sympathetic, but could do nothing. They provide the space and that's it.
