Columbus County Community Farmers Market Inc.

Columbus County has the most dedicated farmers that go the extra mile for their community. They not only bring the freshest produce (most dug or picked that morning), but also are there to answer any questions, give recipes, etc. They also welcome the young children (via school tours) to teach them how the produce is grown, by feeling and seeing the actual produce on the farms. They want to make sure our agricultural heritage lives on---- & teach all generations the value of healthy nutrition and let them know that soil does not come naturally from Wal-mart and veggies are not grown in grocery stores! Many young ones will develop healthy eating habits if we start early. They need to know that the taste of a fresh vegetable or fruit is amazing compared to what you get at a grocery store where it may have traveled for weeks or been frozen before putting on a shelf. Our Farmers Market is making a difference one person at a time........a true grass roots effort.
