Heart of Rushville Farmers & Artisans Market

By: joe smith (Jun 29, 2009)
I was driving through Rushville from Kentucky to New Castle to visit family. I noticed this market off of SR 3. I stopped and was glad I did. They were short on vegetables and fruits, but it was explained that it is early in the season and they only allow locally grown veggies.

I did enjoy the mix of local artisans. The prohibition on imported veggies goes for goods sold there as well. No Amway, Longaberger or Avon. Also this was not a flea market as many of these become. They had a stained glass stand, Amish selling baked goods and a tie dye lady who makes her own shirts. My favorite was a stand that sold garden ornaments and other such things. I bought a butterfly garden suncatcher. Quite nice, good price and the wife just loved it.

When the crops do come in, this will be a wonderful little market. I plan on stopping by whenever I am in the area.
