I strongly disagree with this statement. I believe that the Abingdon Farmers Market is one of the best markets I've ever been to. It is one of the premier markets in the area and ALWAYS offers plenty of farm products. In fact, I purchase most of my produce, meats (hamburger, steaks, bacon, sausage, chicken, pork chops..even lamb), eggs, flour, bread, and hanging baskets there. That being said, there was a holiday market at the end of last season that was primarily for crafters. It was after the end of the official farmers market season. Perhaps that is what this person is referring to...although it still was not "flea market" material.

I pretty much look to the farmers market for all my produce. Last week, I even tried beef from two different venders. I was not disappointed. I even plan to purchase a half beef this fall from one of the market venders. Good prices! My only concern is that on occasion I have seen a vender that has purchased produce from Walmart, Food City, etc......( I don't go to the market for that) How would I know this? Sticker was still on the melon! Most farmers are just trying to make an honest dollar selling their home grown produce. So, I don't let a few bad apples ruin the experience. Thanks farmers, for filling a much needed service. We love you!
