The vendors are solid. There is an okay selection of produce, baked goods and fresh flowers. What truly is lacking at this market is atmosphere. Each time I've been to the market, I've spend about 10 minutes. Jump out of the car, buy produce, jump back into the car. I can get that experience at a grocery store. Farmer Markets should be a place to linger on a Saturday morning as you meet your local farmers, connect with old friends, meet new ones and show your kids what it means to be a farmer.
What is needed here are places to sit down, better (longer) hours, greater diversity of vendors (perhaps local artisans, handcrafters, food vendors). Activities for kids, music for adults. Turn the SPOKANE market into a meeting place for the residents of SPOKANE.
I'm more disappointed in this market than others, simply because the Spokane Farmers Market has the resources and talent to improve. There are smaller communities with better markets in the area, time to examine what they are doing right and what can be done better.
The organizers of this market need to spend a weekend in the Farmers Markets of the Seattle area to see how a well organized community minded market can bring a community together and foster a sense of neighborhood.
