My mood lifts every time I think about Indian Ladder Farms...I can close my eyes and see it , smell it, feel it. The farm itself is, of course, exquisitely beautiful...especially in the early morning when there's frost, or dew steaming in the rising sun; or at sunset- the way the skies color washes over the escarpment background...seeps through the standing evergreens...and settles over the fields, orchards, and barns. There is nothing more beautiful than the first leaves sprouting in the spring...the anticipation of what this farm will be providing us throughout the year.
The image of the sun radiating off an apple coated in raindrops, still clinging to the tree is beautiful. the image of sunset kissing the overflowing crates of pumpkins and squash and gourds is beautiful. The simple way the cool air clings to you inside the apple barn is beautiful. The image the farmer, with his trademark beard and hat, driving the tractor through the mist is beautiful...The real beauty is how these farmers work constantly to produce so much. The farm feeds my family and I think that is beautiful. Thank You.
