The produce is NOT packed in a box. It is left in a filthy walk-in cooler on the farm-you need to dig through terrible produce, which I can only assume is what didn't sell at the farmer's market, to try to find enough edible food for a salad for one. This farm does not grow all of the produce listed on the website-which I only found out AFTER I paid in full, received sub-par produce for months (that I easily could have purchased at the grocery store for MUCH cheaper after all is said and done-even if I bought only organic), and finally requested a pro-rated refund. The answer was NO. The claim is that all the money is used to start the seeds and plant them, etc. You WILL NOT get eggs or fruit. You WILL, however, get to pay extra if you want eggs or if you want honey that is slopped into a jar. Oh yeah-you'll also need to bring your own bags if you choose to pick up at the farm because there won't be any available.
I tried to give this farm the benefit of the doubt-even waiting until WELL into the growing season (July) before I asked for a refund. It didn't work out for me. I sincerely hope that this farm gets better because I believe that CSA'a are a very important part of the community-maybe even more so than Farmer's Markets. I would hate to see people become unwilling to join a CSA because of the few bad ones out there.
