White Rock Local Market

By: Dolores Godinez (Feb 7, 2010)
The last time I was there was disappointing. There were few vegetables for sale: some mushrooms, some canned vegetables that had too much sugar ( according to the ingredients labels) in the process, a coffee person, some eggs, which was nice. But most of the market was crafts: jewelry, perfumes, clothing - stuff like that. I hope that the next time there are more farmers selling produce. Some winter produce would have been nice.

I'm sorry that you did not find what you were looking for. I'm a new vendor, but I think that the reason there is no produce yet is because it's just too early and cold. I think some of the local growers are pretty small in scale and we don't have huge greenhouses to get veggies started early in. We, personally did not grow winter veggies last year, but we intend to this fall. Our farm stand will not have tomatoes until around May, but I'm sure others will have some sooner. We would love to accomodate you in any way we can because we love growing beatiful healthy food and getting paid for doing that. Hopefully, every year we'll learn more and have more to offer.
