My husband and I have been looking for a meat CSA that serves the East Bay and we were absolutely overjoyed when we found Godfrey Family Farms. We signed an upfront for 6 months without seeing their products (quite a gamble!) and that risk has reaped serious rewards. The meats are incredible quality and part of the monthly package includes premium cuts. Our friends think we are much richer than we actually are since we serve veal cutlets, roast duck and filet mignon! Rose (of Godfrey Family Farms) is very responsive in emails and offers great advice on how to cook your meats (with recipe suggestions). The other great aspect of the meat CSA is that it forces us to experiment in the kitchen which is great fun! I've never cooked with water buffalo or guinea fowl until joining. It has definitely expanded my horizons.
BUT! - the creme de la creme of Godfrey Family Farms are those eggs. They are I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. They are about the same price as the premium eggs you find at Whole Foods but they are so so so much better. I buy 4 dozen to last me a month. These eggs compel me commit a deadly sin - gluttony (and it feels so good!)
I have no hesitations on recommending their eggs and their meat CSA to my family, and friends.
