Iceberg Farms

Bill and his daughter Jenny gave a tour of their farm to environmental science students at a local community college. They were extremely warm, welcoming, and informative. Bill explained to us many of the challenges he faces by farming totally chemical free, and how he overcomes these by choosing certain varieties of crops, etc. The diversity of crops and animals on his farm was certainly impressive! He had everything from grapes to pigs, horses to chickens, raspberries to peaches, quails, lettuce, onions, honeybees, etc. It was really interesting to hear how everything on his farm helps each other and is interconnected. The animals help fertilize the crops, the bees help pollinate the crops, etc. Bill gave us a tour of his very impressive greenhouse and explained/ showed us the process he goes through to make maple syrup. This was an incredible educational experience for the students in the course. I hear his eggs are delicious (especially in breakfast sandwiches) and will certainly be returning for some eggs and berries.
