Run, don't walk, to Mud Foot Farm to get Doug Weber's chicken! It is absolutely fantastic! I used Julia Child's recipe for roasted chicken, and got a tender bird with a nicely browned thick skin, and gravy to die for. This bird tastes like a chicken and a turkey made love under a full moon - this is probably what chicken was meant to taste like. A friend said it tasted a lot like Pheasant. I have given these chickens away as presents. I am a dark meat fan, so I love the large legs on these birds.
The eggs are also phenomenal. The shells come in all sorts of colors, and the yokes are a more creamy and orange in color than the eggs you are used to.
I also purchased a lamb last year and have been enjoying it thoroughly. Mud Foot Farm's lambs are grass fed. They don't have quite as much fat as a store-bought lamb, but the flavor is excellent, and the meat is tender.
